I played back when Ron had his necro/cleric/monk in circulation, and the groups were absolutely amazing. While there were 2+ hour waits to get into a OS camp, we would PLOW HS with less than a full group and get more loot, and better experience.

With apologies to my LOS bretheren for "breaking the code of silence" as it were, I present to you here, the direct words of Medicd, when we dared consider adding a REAL paladin to the guild:

Medicd wrote:i non stop see ppl post we need PAL, well Cyber is not pal ? he miss your DS at any event ? if me no let you all know Cyber is played by me, he will get invite ? Yes he will but now bcz you all know he is play by me so he only can get helf points and you guys want more PaL ? Anyone ever check Cyber points ? he join event more then many ppl but how many he get ? he did less job ? No in fact he did more then many ppl, but how many pts he get ? soem ppl choose high points event play and he can easy get more pts more then Cyber bcz he is Main ? WTF Bcz i play 2 char so i can't get full points ? Some of you guys really need think what are you doing, before say Cyber only can get helf points did you think you did more job then cyber ? you join more event then Cyber ? Ya with get more Pal we will no more need Cyber so some can get what they want, everyone is pay and play EQ everyone should have same right, if you complane why i play 2 char so i can get 2 full point syou can buy 2 computer and play 2 char too, Why didnt you do it ? why only complane no let Cyber get points ? If i can play 2 char sure i get right get full points, if think i get too much ? then go buy another computer and do it.

To partially translate:
Cyber = Cyberchen, his 2-boxed paladin, that he played very very badly. He already sucked ass playing 1 character, when he 2 boxed, he achieved whole new levels of suckdom.
Also, one of the things he's bitching about was a rule at the time that stated that if you 2-boxed, your main got full DKP, and your 2nd character got half. (so effectively you got 1.5x the DKP of anyone who didn't 2-box, it was just just split between the 2 characters and tracked individually).

Anyway, just this rant is not as funny by itself as it is reading the entirety of the thread that followed, but I don't think any ex-LOS will object to giving a direct example of Medicd's utter retardedness.... rofl. This rant was not an isolated incident, either, there were numerous examples of similar rants.

I know I was never in LoS, but I grouped with LoS people a lot of the time when I played, and was actually the only person in GPU that was not a member of LoS. Needless to say, yes Ron was quite possibly one of the best two boxers I have ever seen. I couldn't even imagine playing two characters as well as he did. Yes he did have quite an attitude, but thinking back to it now he was the only reason I stepped my game up to even begin to think about playing on the highest level of EQ at the time. I kinda refer back to my time in GPU with Ron/Karmie/etc. as bootcamp, god knows learning to take critcism from them made it a lot easier when I ran my own guild in WoW.

P.S. Deadone/Wangho are probably some of the funniest peeps to come out of LoS. Them and 'lope.

Heh got all nostalgic and forgot what I wanted to post about, the petition to change the way initiates got loot/dkp etc. was hilarious when Berton was GM. I can remember talking with the GPU crew and inviting almost every officer in LoS into the channel just so Ron could pitch his ideas like a fucking Presidential Candidate, man he wanted to change the system so bad. Zedd got the short end of the stick there though, having to listen to that for almost 3 hours one raid night.

Mudcrush although he had his moments was probably one of the hardest working mofo's for LoS I'd ever seen. He would spend hours making potions, gear and all sorts of shit for the guild prior to raids and then hand it off to officers to give out. I gotta give him props in that regard even though we didn't see eye to eye ingame on many occasions.

All in all LoS was a group of hardworking, determined people.Staying up till 6am to kill a certain baddy then everyone logs off to get to work was not unheard of many nights (F PoEA). Those late night's in turn added to the hilarity of the game (DESP CHARGE!!) or Arlos and the good ole WTF? I ONLY PULLED ONE!

LoS was a success not due to any one member though. It was the silent majority of folks who logged on with the intention of causing death to boss mobs who logged on day in and day out that did it. Couple that with the leadership and you have a force to be reckoned with.

I can say that LoS was and will likely always be the best guild I have had the pleasure of being in. We had some quality folks with whom I was glad to call guildies.Even in 10 years I'll still look back fondly on those times.

that was a bad period for a while there

Berton's original intent was great(gearing up new recruits so we could kill shit) but the implementation was kinda retarded

the main issue was that Berton disliked Ronald so much that any idea that came from Ron was instantly veto'd, regardless of whether or not it was a brilliant idea, or not

WoW beta ninja invites started coming out at this point to, and lead to a massive drain of the remaining oldschoolers who all miraculously went "inactive" at the same time.

Some of those discussions between Ron and Berton were pretty hilarious, though I can't seem to find any of them. Might be on my old comp, but wow were they vicious.

Dirty dirty move Blizzard. "Recruiting" two of the most well known personalities of Everquest over to their side, knowing of the masses that would follow. It's as bad as the Gov't blaming Bin Laden for 9-11.

eh, you know that there was a big group of Blizz folks in LoS right?

Ariel, Daelomin, Thatia/Thorax, Blurr, Tigole....I'm sure I'm forgetting some

and yes, Caswallawn was a tool
He was Draed's roommate or some shit and once made Draed award him dragon haste, or he wasn't going to pay him the rent

I wasn't sure how that worked exactly. From reading here recently I see that Ariel was blizz from that article in Time magazine. I thought Blizz offered Tigole and Furor jobs after their "success" in Everquest. I didn't know they were Blizz from the start...

Tigole was not blizzard from the start. Ariel, Daelomin, Thatia/Thorax, Blurr, and 1 or 2 others that I know I am forgetting were, however. Tigole got the Blizzard job after Ariel saw how he ran the guild after taking it over when Ariel himself stepped down. It was, to the best of my knowledge, a combination of drive, personality, MMO-skill and writing skill (as seen in his VERY widely-read posts to the LOS main page), among probably other considerations. He was originally hired as a grunt junior level game designer, and earned his way up to his current position. Tigole was hired rather early in the process too, easily a couple years before even Alpha started. Furor was hired much much later, as a quest designer, as I recall.

yup

Tigole started with Blizzard midway thru Luclin

was funny, every once in a while, they'd pop in and post something like "Daelomin came up with a neat effect in this encounter we're working on. I think we'll call teh boss Baron Geddon" and then they'd just giggle

about a year later during beta, we all got the joke, jeje

Thatia was the first mangina I ever knew. It was hilarious when he told me. I was floored. I remember that we were standing at the wizard spires in Dreadlands. I forget what we were talking about or what brought it up. I just remember being completely floored. He used to email me pictures he was drawing and shit. But I haven't heard from him in ages.

Is Tigole still working for blizzard? He was the coolest.

God I miss being a newbie.

GPU ftw >< Only did like one thing, then I quit EQ again though...

There was another duo box that was as good as Ronald, I cant remember the name though, it was a troll shaman/SK, can any share some light? Think he was in Euphoria, I use to do CT alot with him. He would camp them non-stop and always try and train me out of the sewers when I double boxed them =/

Ahh yea when That came back ><

Aye, Kaiine and Jay I remember you both but I am thinking more towards the end of the GPU days, after which everyone still in the channel that did stuff was in LoS at the time. I remember quite a few raids with you Kaiine, Jay not so many.

you're thinking of Drolkrad

he was pretty good, but not in the same league

imo, I 2 boxed better than he did, and I was definately below Ron

Indeed. Drolkrad was good, just not as good as Ron. The only reason Drolkrad won the Necro best of the best is cause Ron wasn't able to log in that day, and thus didn't compete.

I got pwnd in my second bout in the BOTB. I think Silverx whooped me. I was never much good a duelling... Manalope made me a corpse many times but I just could not resist /d whenever he was around. Fuck PVP vs clerics.
