Memory reference svchost error

Postby Reynaldo » Fri Oct 27, 2006 3:32 pm

We've seen a variety of these at work recently and the solutions seem to vary in a very inconsistent way.

the error reads something like "error referencing memory 0x00000000 at location 0x000005555"

The error seems to have something to do with Microsoft Updates (one solution was even turning off auto updates...then getting them manually...then turning auto updates back on).

Is there a concrete reason why this error comes up and what it has to do with MS updates?

Thanks.

if it's feasible

uninstall java

reboot

reinstall java

reboot

(if you don't need java, just leave it off)
