KFC to use No-Trans Oil

Post by Phlegm »

KFC said today that it will start using zero trans fat soybean oil for its Original Recipe and Extra Crispy fried chicken, Potato Wedges and other menu items. Hopefully it won't taste too much different.

On this subject, I agree with Mindia. Maybe once every 3-4 years I'll forget how it was, and think "Hmmm, KFC could be decent", I'll get some, and will inevitably remind myself that I might as well be gurgling down fat straight from the fryer, the amount of grease that's in those things.

It's possible to make home-made fried chicken with a fraction of the grease you find in KFC, and it tastes way better, too. *I* can't do it, but my ex-roommate made some that was damn good.

El Pollo Loco makes great BBQ chicken. It's much healthier than KFC's artery-clogging crap.

It's pretty much just pan searing it and then baking it in the oven at a high temperature.(battered of course, but it's not a wet batter completely like if you were frying it)

Nothing special, it's just better for you than deep frying it.
