WoW Open Beta
The WoW website repeatedly mentions an "open" beta, but never really describes what it is.
Im probably being dumb here, but I assume an open beta lets in anyone who wishes to play the game?

EDIT:
Don't think it's for everyone...just everyone who signed up for beta.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
I don't have much experience with game betas but this seems a little excessive to me how long the WoW one is planned for. From what Taxx says they are shooting for what...a year of just beta?
I can respect wanting to put out a relatively speaking, "flawless" game, but thats a ton of people that are going to Secretariat you out of the gate when it finally goes live.
Would be cool if it was possible to trace the beta account holders and create dedicated servers that no one from beta was able to use. (see: fantasyland)

Release is scheduled for the end of 2004. And that's as exact as they are gonna make it atm.

"Open Beta" has changed meanings. Open beta means there is no NDA, not that anyone can join in. WoW has had an open beta since the begining, but lots of people keep thinking that means they will let everyone in. SWG was the first big MMOG that started using this definition.
