lol 15% mandatory bonus? Like you have to take the money or you're fired?

No, meaning I get a minimum of 15% and it can get up to 25% depending on how well my company does. I always bank on the lowest number so anything higher than 15% I'll consider an extra bonus...bonus.

Started at 6:00 am, came into house i contracted to redo, did demo of a bathroom( had fun ripin out tub, toilet, vanity, drywall and old floor tile). Moved some plumbing to allow for large walkin shower that'll replace tub, put in new cement board and drywall, fixed subfloor, build mudbase for shower pan, installed heated floor, and went home at 10pm. Going back tomorow to start laying tile.

The Kizzy wrote:Today I argues with my boss about what kind of cleaning product to use on Pergo flooring. He said to use the pergo cleaner. I said to use the Bruce Harwood floor cleaner. We argued, I told him he was the boss. I tried explaining to him that Pergo = cardboard coated in Aluminum Oxide, and what happens when you get cardboard wet? It goes bad and warps, etc. Pergo floor cleaner is made mostly of water, the Bruce Hardwood Floor cleaner is not...............whatever. That was the best part of my day.

There is no cardboard in Pergo. Pergo is basicaly a higher pressure MDF coated with laminate on botom, and laminate with added carbide on top over a picture of wood. Pergo will only buckle from high exposure to water, but that much water would also buckle a hardwood floor.

Manufactured Dense Fiber.

It's a compressed wood.

You need to watch more home shows. ;)

ALl laminate is made up of four layers. THe first layer is a balancing back, made of Melamine (plastic) or felt. The second layer is HDF or MDF (High or Medium Density Fiber Board) the third layer is the design layer, they could literally take a picture of your face and make that the design if you really wated to. and then the final layer, the wear layer, made of Melamine and coated in Al3O2 or Aluminum Oxide, which is supposedly the second strongest thing known to man.

Water will damage it. Period.

I'll trust Ganzo's opinion, given that he owns and operates a flooring store over Kizzy's vast experience working part time at a home depot or 2.

Ive worked at three home depot stores. Home Depot is the United States largest distirbutor of Pergo, unlike a Mom and Pop shop. We see our Pergo guy at least once a month until recently when they laid all the reps off. I know what I do, and I do a very good job at it.

And the fact that I am part time doesn't mean anything. I do over $30,000 in sales a week for new floor installs. Thats more than any of our full time employees. I only worked for four hours yesterday and I sold an $8000 carpet job abd a $3000 wood/tile job. I doubt people would recommend their family and friends to come and see me if I didn't know what I was doing. I am sure when Ganzo reads what I wrote he will agree with what I did write. Get yer head out of your ass, Arlos.

I think Ganzo is right because he's a man and men are better at these types of things than chicks (and I use the term loosely).

ALl laminate is made up of four layers.

From iFLOOR.com

Pergo® flooring is comprised of three components:

The surface layer and decorative laminate - TOP
Carrier board or core material - MIDDLE
Balancing layer of laminate or other material - BOTTOM

Just figured I should point that one out considering it seems pretty basic.

Seems like the only thing pergo is missing from your description is:

and then the final layer, the wear layer, made of Melamine and coated in Al3O2 or Aluminum Oxide, which is supposedly the second strongest thing known to man.

Did Home Depot tell you to tell people that to sweeten the deal?

They aren't counting the wear layer and the design layer as two seperate layers, I am. same difference

Oh, I figured if the wear layer was made of a material that is "supposedly the second strongest thing known to man" IFloor.com would want to advertise that.

If it's so strong, how come it gets pwned by water?
Jay

Postby The Kizzy » Wed Nov 01, 2006 1:11 pm

Because the top is coated, not the sides or bottom. The waranty even states that it will not cover water damage from water seeping from the subfloor or standing water of over 30 minutes. Its not rocket science poeple. Oh, wait, Im talking to the Nameless Tavern.
