Actually you both do. For one Ginz was the one disagreeing with Insanityfair yet cannot debate simple statements she makes and instead starts shit flinging towards me. So concede that she's right or actually debate her points

The only thing I disagree with is the statement she made about taking the kid away because she made one mistake.

You and I going back and forth at one another didn't start until YOU prompted it with this statement:

You obviously haven't done much parenting.

Tikker loses because he has absolutely no fucking clue what he's talking about.

And I agree with you on this point because even I don't know wtf tikker is talking about.

If you take that as an insult towards you then it's probably true. It doesn't matter if it's 2 blocks or 2 miles an accident can occur anywhere. Like I said, parenting is a 100% of the time job, not a when I feel like it job.

I think if they would have taken her child from her on the spot and put him in temporary foster care and followed it up with parenting classes and evals like a lot of parents who do stupid stuff have had to, that would have been fine

And that is what I am disputing. I think that is totally insane.

And I'm pretty sure she learned her lesson considering that mistake was the most widely covered media event of the fucking decade, which of course doesn't influence your view on the subject what so ever.

Taxx, just because you've played house with a half dozen internet chicks and their children doesn't make you an authority on the subject. I know enough about parenting to know that what your girlfriend is suggesting is ludicrous.

I've done more parenting than you know about, thank you.

Also, it really doesn't fucking matter what YOU think is insane or not. It's against the law, period. Just because someone has learned their lesson in your eyes doesn't mean they shouldn't have to deal with the consequences, that's part of being a responsible adult.

Ginz. My oldest son was once with his dad for an overnight. My son's dad *thought* my son was sleeping and decided he would take a nap. (Mind you, it's around 3pm) Fast forward to my 2 year old being out on a 3rd story balcony in 40-50 degree weather, for over a half hour with a crowd below ready to catch him if he fell. The police were called and were pounding on his apartment door for over 10 minutes and almost had to break it down in order to rescue my son. He finally woke up...when the police woke him. My son now has a police record. Did he have to take a single class about parenting? Nope. ...they sent someone to his house to tell him how to child proof his door so the balcony wouldn't be accessible to a 2 yr. old. When they did the follow up 10 days later to make sure he had done it and he hadn't what did they do about it? Absolutely nothing....oh but if it happens again...hey, and did they listen when I told them my son's dad told me the same thing happened a week earlier? Nope. I have 0...I repeat 0 tollerance for people who make easily avoidable stupid mistakes that could in an instant become fatal such as Britney did, because yeah, I've felt the "If it were my child..." side of that story.

Sure, if the punishment is the police take the child away from its mother and put it with a foster home because the kid wasn't strapped into a child seat, I will agree with you.

So, being placed in temporary safe custody for a couple days, and manditory parenting classes before getting your child back is too steep for you? What would you do?

That's up to Social Services, and that's what she's been trying to get through to you for the past page and a half. You were saying slap her on the wrist and let her go do it again. She broke the law and should have to deal with it.

I figure between Kizzy's 3 kids and IF's 3 kids Tacks is probably a pro at parenting now.

incoming two cents!!!

she did a stupid thing, yes, but doesn't deserve to have her child taken away from her just for doing said stupid thing. parenting lessons, sure; driving lessons, okay; taking the child away for ONE mistake? a little extreme.

aaaand OUT!

[please direct all flames at someone else, kthx]

Yes, because between the 2 of us, I'm the only parent here, asking you about your parenting experiences that give you your lofty perch to be condescending towards anyone in this conversation

if you say so, you still know nothing about me or have a clue wtf you're talking about, so kindly fuck off.

Leah, nobody said take the kid away permanently. More like spend 2 days away from him while you're at parenting classes to get a feel of what it might be like to be away from him for a lifetime, maybe then next time she'd think a little more.

Point was Tacks has had involvement with 2 parents, so he probably knows a thing or 2 about parenting based on that.

Yes, in that instance, taking a kid away from the parent for any amount of time is too steep. That wasn't my question, that was a statement. My question was, is that the punishement for not strapping your child into it's car seat (first offense).

You get reckless endangerment first offense which is a slap on the wrist

When did I say "slap her on the wrist and let her do it again"?

You make it sound as if there are only two choices, let her go with no punishment or take the kid away and put it in a temporary foster home.

She broke the law, fine. Without knowing what the punishment is for breaking that law (first offense) you're talking out of your ass.

From what I've read, she didn't get anything. If she did I stand corrected but, hey, it's just like they told me when my son's dad endangered him. "It's sad really, there's really nothing we can do unless the child gets physically injured or dies." Good luck, Sean Preston, your mom didn't have to do jack when she broke the law, hope you see 18.
