Postby ybik gnome » Fri Nov 10, 2006 1:01 pm

As I posted to Vip, I found out what I missed about EQ, asking what your favorite songs/bands were at the moment. Enjoy finding out new music etc.

Post some names and etc to spread your favorite song at the moment.

Provide a youtube/VG link so I can listen to it gets you extra points.

Some of the ones I listen to daily(Dont mind the videos, im at work and cant download songs, so I look for videos with the song in them)

I listen to music situationally. When I'm in the car I like hip hop. Chamillionaire, Young Jeezy, E40. When I'm chillin at home I like DCFC, Postal Service, John Legend. When I'm working I listen to Trance. Alternative and metal when I'm working out.

For the win.

Perhaps one day Toss and I can sit at a round table passing "traffic" back and forth listening to some great tunes.

ATM, Beck - peaches and cream
But my playlist is loaded with old school soul funk and disco

in days where I'm feeling mellow, and just kind of want to halfsleep while listening to music, I really like Blue Rodeo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG35JJVgXh0 the magic numbers performing "take a chance" live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuvfkWZnD5Q&mode=related&search= the Decemberists performing 16 Military Wives 10-27-06. it's not great quality...but hang in there with it long enough to get the idea. the sound isn't too bad as they are a rocking band so even bad video can't mess them up. I was at this particular show, not that close up though I had a great view on the floor. it's at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, an old church and if you've never been you should go. walk around the amazing hallways/doorways/rooms/stairs. it's the perfect music venue. also, the next link is what happens at the end of "16 Military Wives"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOSB3EcQzIY&mode=related&search= and he conducts the audience in a singalong. this band is one of my favorites to see live.

I've been listening to Gary Numan's recent stuff a lot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVIl7H_3oaM
Not the greatest recording, you can't really hear the lyrics. You can find them here: http://www.lyricsdownload.com/gary-numa ... yrics.html

Note they're rather harsh, he wrote the song just after his wife miscarried a baby well into the 2nd trimester.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2JVI3leYQ4
is another good one.

Seriously, if you like Industrial, I can't recommend his most recent 2 albums, Pure and Jagged highly enough.

If you want previews of the other tracks on the CD, go here: http://www.last.fm/music/Gary+Numan/Pure . My personal favorite is "Walking With Shadows" on the album, but there's no full length stuff on Youtube for that one.

I will stick with Cars

Edit: wow I didn't know Cars was from 1979. That Human League song Empire State Human is also from 1979, both far ahead of their time.

His recent stuff is very different from "Cars". It's closer to Downward Spiral era NIN than anything else I can think of off the top of my head.

"X" is an also quite overlooked/forgotten band that always deserves the attention.
