i know everyone's all excited about the possibilities associated with quad-core processors, but it seems kind of excessive to me. granted, i am in no way computer-savvy, but i DO do a lot of reading about computers as part of my job. bits and pieces of this information find ways into my memory, and if i remember correctly, didn't we just get done being all riled up about the dual-core processors? and how core 2 duos are AWESOME and blahdiblahblah? i guess i was under the impression that dual-core processors were the big thing right now, and that there were hardly even any programs/applications/software/whatever that would NEED the power of quad-core technology?

don't get me wrong, i have NO IDEA how any of this stuff works . . . i'm just curious as to how this all works--how they can keep coming up with more and more multicore technology and actually have a use for it.

computers blow my mind. i think that's why i really like my job.

so basically its marketing and taking advantages of people who actually think they need 4 gigs of memory, 2 sli 8800 nvidia cards, and a quad processor to play solitare and surf the internet
