Cowboys vs. Colts

I thought it was a pretty good game. Romo is good.

Yep - if the Cowboys had left the Statue in - they'd have gotten killed.

Speaking of Runslow... I didn't even see him on the side lines... did I miss something? I knew he was benched, but did they fire his hack ass too?

Interesting. You know when ever a team benches someone like a QB, the cameras like to zoom in on them on the slidelines with thier clip boards in hand.... didn't see hide nor hair of him. Less I just missed it.

Anyway, Romo's in - Runslow is out. Drew should take the hint and retire, call it a career and try to find a cushy announcer job.

It will be down to the Cowboys and the Giants for the East now. McNabb is out for the season with a knee injury.

When Bledsoe is protected, he's a pretty damn good QB. The team is built for Romo because the line cannot protect the QB. Any scrambeling QB would have worked with the type of offensive arsenal they have. Hell, bring back Quincy Carter, he'd be named MVP.

Yeah Bledsoe is deffinatly still there. For the first few weeks the camera was perma rooted on Bledsoe. If Romo starts to struggle (wich FYI he is only .5 pts behind Manning for the best QB ratio in football atm) those camera's will move right back to Bledsoe, and the announcers will be voicing how its time to let Bledsoe back in.

As long as Romo keeps playing at the level that he is playing, we wont hear a peep about or from Bledsoe.

with the way defenses are currently forced to play, you really won't see many successful "pocket" QB's anymore

go back 20 years, stick in bledsoe and he re-writes the record books np

With the Speed of the Defenses now, and the blitzing schemes you are right....PURE pocket passers are going to few and far between. At least succesful ones.

Who's left in the league that you'd even consider a pocket passer anymore?

Brad Johnson maybe (he's a leftover tho at 37 or 38)
Trent Green maybe (he's also older)
Fat Albert (he's never going to be elite)

can't really think of anyone else off the top of my head

Brad Johnson for sure, Trent Green is, Peyton Manning is the purest form of a Pocket passer left. Bledsoe, Brett Favre is. Brett can make some throws on the run, and does, but he is most succesful in the pocket. Hasselback is a pocket passer, along with Byron Leftwich.

You would really have to narrow the question down to who are the succesful pocket passers left in the league. That list is quite a bit shorter.

Peyton Manning
Brad Johnson
Matt Hassleback
Brett Favre

Suppose you really need to define pocket passing though. Example Hassleback is considered a pocket passer, but they do roll him out every now and again because he is effective throwing on the run. Same with Favre. They are both encouraged to make plays with their feet.

So i guess it really just boils down to Manning and Johnson that i can think of.

Drew Brees
Carson Palmer
I consider Phillip Rivers a pocket passer.

I wouldn't call Hassleback or Favre pocket passers at all

Drew Brees I'll buy, and I completely forgot about Carson Palmer
That being said, they're both fairly mobile guys

Its not necessarily about mobility. That not a pre requiset of being a pocket passer. A pocket passer is someone thats main goal is to stand in the pocket and deliver the football. Not someone that is called apon to scramble or make plays with their feet. Hassleback are i believe a hybrid of pocket passers. Certainly not pure pocket passers.

Rivers, Breese, Palmer, i believe are all hybrids.

You can have the speed of Michael Vick and still be a pocket passer. You could have the moves of Walter Peyton and still be a pocket passer.
