Only reason it's such a big deal is because he's white, imo. Yeah it was a total dickhead thing to do, but when there are comics like Martin Lawrence and DL Hughley who's primary staple in their material is jokes about how stupid white people are, I don't think it's fair to allow it to ruin one man's career and not the others. It's total bullshit that anyone has an attitude like this, but seriously - it should be universally uncalled for, not just uncalled for for white people.

We're held to a higher standard? That's total bullshit. I had nothing to do with anything that went on all those years ago, and I have no responsibility nor do I owe anyone shit for it. Yeah, it sucks that it happened, but guess what - this is 2006, and it'd be foolish to begrudge someone who had nothing to do with anything that happened for all the horrendous things that happened back then. White people weren't the only ones guilty of owning slaves, you know, that just happens to be the primary focus. Shitty behavior is shitty behavior, regardless of the race of the person displaying it.

And those two comics, in particular, do NOT make fun of stereotypes - they outright insult white people in I'd say 85% of their material, and you'd be ignorant not to see that. It's just as bad, only people aren't as easily offended by it. Both sides are equally ignorant, and you simply cannot attack one side while defending the other.

I'm not defending the guy, to be clear - I think that it's absolutely disgraceful, and I'm embarrassed by it myself - but I'm also embarrassed of the other comics when they feel they can't be funny without pulling the race card.

There's a major difference with racial satirical comedy and screaming hateful racially charged obscenities. I don't think Martin Lawrence and DL Hughley are guilty of the latter. Their comedy is more observational humor that stereotypes white people.

Why are you so rude? Have I once insulted you or calmly stated my opinion? You wonder why people think you're such a moron, and it's because of posts like this, and then you back up your ignorance with things like 'lol dude i was high it's prolly the drugs.'

Yes, racism went on way past that, as a result of the past. Again, I WAS NOT alive during the civil rights movement, and I'm sorry that it happened but to say that we're held to a higher standard for it is ridiculous, in my opinion.

I'm not putting them in the same classification, this guy is much worse in his hatred in this example, obviously- but yes - I'll happily find quotes from them degrading the opposite race - give me a few.

You werent alive back then but thats the key word.I have a problem when i hear that shit too. History has been going on longer than any of us have been alive.To think youd be imune from events in history becuase you "werent around" when it happened is very foolish. A lot of people were alive back then or have relitives that were.Memories and stories get passed down through generations. It takes a second to fix forgive and forget. Yea it sucks white people are held to a higher standard but im just trying to explain to you why that is. If you want to see why they can push it a little further i suggest you google cival rights movement. Pay close attention to the years that shit was going on and think about how old the people would be.

I would say we could be held to a higher standard but there is just as much reverse racism in america today as there is white vs minority racism.

I'm not saying I'm immune, Spazz.. I completely understand that history has shaped what is today - but it'd be like hating my current relatives because my ancestors beat their kids. There's nothing we can do about it now but learn from their mistakes, I can't fix it. I don't feel that people in current day are suffering or that we should still be griping and expecting a handout for what happened so long ago. You can't change the past, but you can learn from it, and using it as an excuse for the way you are (especially when it's something that you, personally, were not even involved in) solves absolutely nothing.
