animated .gif question

I am interested in one. I know what I want to do-so how would I go about doing that? do I need to download a program? I can google this but maybe someone here knows a bit and they don't mind helping a sister out with advice. preesh!

i use adobe imageready then save the frames of the gif as seperate .jpg files in a folder and then go to import ->> folder as frames

then optimize it for color/size etc. then save wala done
