Best place for international airfare?

Post by Gypsiyee »

I need to find a decent deal on a flight from Auckland, NZ to Jacksonville, FL departing on Jan 10 and returning on like..the 26th or so. Any ideas on the best place to look? No need for a hotel or anything like that, just the ticket.

Orbitz had higher prices than most of the places I checked - I appreciate your smart assed quick witted response, Dylan, but if I was coming here to ask some kid for his insight on how to use the internet, I would have just PM'd you.

Instead, though, I made a post addressing a large amount of generally helpful people with varying careers who might actually be able to provide some half-intelligent insight on places I wouldn't think to look.

I would go to your local airports homepage first and then see who flies internationally in and out of there. Then I would go to that website to see if you could find anything. Just a suggestion.

well, that's the thing though - neither is my local airport >.< and it's for someone coming FROM NZ, not going to, if that makes a difference.

There something we should know about? *wink wink* *nudge nudge* :vv: :la:

In all seriousness, try Travelocity and Priceline, and compare the prices you get from them to the price you get by going to the actual website of the airline you want to use themselves. The airlines have actually gotten wise and frequently you can get better deals by going to them directly, if all you're doing is getting a flight. I have no clue who the NZ national carrier is, Australia is Quantas, so you could try them, or one of the usual big vendors: United, Delta, etc.

Why not use Orbitz? They'll hook you up right!

Take off at 3pm, land at 6pm for your crossover, take off again for final destination at 5pm... What? You're an hour late? You should have checked your schedule! God knows Orbitz, who handed it to you, can't make sure it works for you!

http://travel.travelocity.com/flights/A ... 6351152006 is $10 cheaper, for whatever that might be worth. At that price range though, 10 bucks is a drop in the bucket.

Honestly, finding flights from NZ is a pain in the ass. You might try going through an actual travel agent as well.

priceline won't handle international if taking off from another country.

NZ has it's own airline when I was there. Quantas dwarfed it though.
