When I was in high school I worked at a grocery store part time as an assistant manager. There was a girl that got hired as a cashier. She was in her low 30s at most.
She had 7 or 8 kids, I forget. She had also informed me that she had 2 miss carriages.
She was the WORSE employee I had ever seen in my life. Constantly called in to work, was late, didn't follow rules, even showed up one day with dyed pink hair. This lady did everything she possible could to get fired. When I left that place, she was pregnant with another child.
You can't tell me you agree with that. I don't give a fuck what her backround is, or her sob story. That's just bullshit that the normal employee has to face responsibility and keep their job to pay their bills while trash like her doesn't care about working or keeping a job, because she knows that she can go back to being unemployeed and the gov't will pay her way with no consequences.
religious organizations, afdc office, salvation army...bethany homes, ummm there are a billion places u can get help if things are that bad that you are comparing your lives to that of the african americans who have struggled since they were placed into slavery..
(and yes of course i am aware slavery was a lot of places, that is why it was called the "international slave trade" and not the "vil white guys kidnapping black folks and dragging them to the US to beat and rape and kill trade")

But thats the type of families that I see that are on welfare. Maybe it's just my area where I live. ( NY ). I see it being used (abused) by people that don't attempt to get a job, generally having 4 or more children, and they expect to do the things other people have to work for.
I'll never forget being in elementary school, and a kid that was well known for being on welfare and not caring what people think, coming into school bragging how he got to go to disney land. I was like " what, the fuck,". I never even went to Disney Land, and both my parents worked for everything.
It's almost like theres a very thin line in this country between middle class and low class income, the only difference is that middle class has to work and struggle(at times) for things in life when low class gets it handed to them. I guess I'm bitter that I pay taxes, and they get PAID taxes.
Everyone that is on it around here abuses it. I can think of maybe one or two families that I know a member of that actually needs the help. If it were up to me, welfare would be either completely done away with or have some process they have to go through to get it and keep it. Hell, even a drug test before they pick up the check would be great.
Around here, its not only nigs that suck up welfare, the same amount if not more of these pieces of shit are white, so dont call me racist because of that. We dont have much black folk around here, but what we do have of em, they are lazy just like a lot of the white folks.

Ever think that some of these people may have been in what they thought were good relationships when they had the kids? Then the Dad skips town and refuses to pay alimony, leaving now-single wife with no job, no income and 3 kids to feed? What the fuck is she supposed to do? Sure, she can bitch to the courts about the dad being a deadbeat, but do you know how big a percentage of guys don't pay alimony and never get arrested? So that's not going to get her anywhere.
So, say she's got no family that live nearby to look after the kids, and at least one is too young to put in school. Day care is prohibitively expensive AND usually full. Someone could work full time at minimum wage and still barely make enough to cover just day care, much less anything else, and that's assuming she could find any.
Around here there are city (i guess its city, not real sure) ran daycare deals that dont cost anything for underprivileged families, theres one option. If it came down to it, put the little bastard up for adoption and hope it gets a better life than what you could give em. Would be a hell of a decision, but another option.

Not a single slave is still struggling though life after being placed into slavery, therefore it would be impossible to compare anyone's life to a current ex-slave as you indicate by talking about their struggle in the present tense.
