I've built my last few gaming PCs, but through work we just got offered XPS 700s at a pretty huge discount.
So, I'm looking at getting:
XP Pro
Dual Core 6300
2 Gigs RAM
2 250 Raid 0 HDDs
7900 GS
CD/neat case/cheap Dell Mobo/etc
750 Watt power supply
For a grand... I'm debating nabbing this and putting an 8800 GTS in it for gaming goodness. I'm sure it wouldn't be as fast as if I went through Newegg, but man with the 8800 GTS its still under 1450 for me...
Now, I don't keep up with PCs like I used to, and haven't bought a Dell forever, but is there any glaring reason I shouldn't do this?
XPS 700 on a dime advice...

my laptop has a 7900gs, and typically desktop card > laptop card
I run everything at 1920x1200 with everything up full
installed oblivion last night again, and can run everything full, except AA, which runs great at 2x, but soon as I go to 4x it gets the occasional hiccup (i can't tell the difference between them anyway)
ymmv but I wouldn't buy the 8800 for a while anyway. by the time you need it, it'll be 250 bucks, or the 9800 will be out
