Hey I like Dinty Moore beef stew.

And I think leah could be supermodel sized and still think she's fat. Self perception is a bitch.

LOL

god she is on a roll LOL..I gotta get going in a few minutes. I have to study for my final. Although I could get a 75 on the test and it would still be an A. I only missed four points total all semester and she told me I got an A on my term paper the other day at a function.

ANYWAY..anyone got anything else interesting to say in the next 15 minutes?

Last year I had just moved back to Malaysia. I was invited for a Chrismtas lunch, but that was all. This year I have my parents coming plus many invitations to various parties. Everything is looking up this year =)

Oh, and TGIF was great last night! We did have to order one person's meal three times. I asked for the manager. When he came I explained what happened. He sat there with a blank look on his face saying nothing. I had to spell it out for him... "So can you do something to .. uhh... make us happy?" He gave us the meal for free =P

I always get really embarrassed when I'm with someone who tries to get a free meal =\

food service type of work is a lot harder than any office job i've ever had, and they get paid significantly less - it's busy as hell and rather thankless, especially in a restaurant that just opened

I'm an extreme tipper. I either tip well, or not at all. No in between tips.

Tipping is not something we do in here. I expect good service when I go to a restaraunt that's going to charge me more than $7 a meal. If I don't get that service I will complain.

$7 a meal is hardly anything.. are you serious >< I mean you no offense Mark, but where do you get off expecting such fantastic service as a non contributing member of society for the time being? They're there busting their butts doing hard work - anyone who says food service is an easy job has either never done it or is ignorant to the industry entirely.

To be fair, some parts of the world, the tip is included into the base cost of your meal, and is set at some fixed amount. So, if you've paid your bill, you've tipped. I know at least parts of Europe are like that, where you simply don't tip extra. Now, I haven't been to MALAYSIA, but it's possible that not-tipping is the cultural norm over there, in which case Mark's actions make more sense. Now, if he were to come back to the US and act that way, that would be an entirely different situation.

$7 for a meal here is already considered quite high above average. A burger at TGIF cost me about that. That of course doesn't include drinks. The cost of living here is lower, food is cheaper, services are cheaper, etc.. That doesn't mean that I should expect a lower standard of service or quality - especially when going to a restaraunt like TGIF.

You think I'm not a contributing member of society? I just finished studying. How is studying not contributing to society? Is it that you MUST work to be a contributing member of society? So someone working at McDonalds is a contributing member of society and I'm not? Please.... I'm waiting to start my job next year. I'll be selling biodegradable plastic. I'd say the job I'm going to be doing is quite a contribution to society.

Arlos is correct. We have a 10% service charge included in the bill.

Personally, I hate the idea of a service charge. It demotivates waitors/waitresses from doing their best. The service charge is split equally among all the workers - including those that aren't waitresses/waitors. So what's the point of working harder than the rest? I'd happily tip if that was the norm, but I'm not going to tip on top of a service charge; which is often 15%.

Heh gotta go with mark on this one. I better have good fucking service no matter what the hell im paying for them to get tip'd I will tip good usually also. If it's a $7 dollar meal I will sometimes tip 5. I went to perkins yesterday for breakfeast. Some dumb bitch had a damn attitute n shit. All I ordered was a like 3 cups of coffee some eggs and a muffin turned out to be a lil over 7 bucks. Every single damn time I asked for coffee the bitch is always like, yes im going to get it just gimmie a minute. So she went back to serving more food and 5 mins later she brought me some coffee. So for being a stupid retard I asked her for the check once....so she brought it out and then a min l8r I asked her for some another order of eggs. She told me she would re-write check when she came back. But I took the ticket that I had currently when she left to go order the next set of eggs, put a penny on the table and then proceeded to go pay the check promptly before she came out. Oh did i mention their was like 5-6 ppl in at that time. So they really weren't swamped with ppl that they couldnt attend me quickly or curteously. Don't wanna hear what shit they had to go through I flipped burgers at culver's when i was 16. At least they are the damn waiters. Everybody chooses wtf they wanna do.

P.S. A tip is gratuity usually given to someone for excelling in a service provided to them. I dont see any damn reason why I should HAVE to tip if they were being ass-hats.

I usually overtip unless the service is really bad or the server is rude to me.

They rely on the tips and most of them have pretty shitty jobs, you shouldn't demand prefect service, they're not your slaves.

exactly, that's how i am, too. i depended on tips for a year and a half in college and i was always very grateful to the people who were generous and forgiving (especially when we were super busy). i tip about 20%, more if it's really good service. even poor service will still get 10-15% from me, just because i know they need it and a lot of times it's not something they can control. for example, after the restaurant i worked at closed, i heard from several people that it was because the service was too slow. well, i was part of the service and i can tell you that for me at least, i always brought food out the second it was done and was very attentive--what made things slow was the fact that the cooks sucked. hardcore. they had terrible ticket times (and a really high turnover rate, so they were never really very well-trained), so even if i got the person's order ASAP and put it in immediately, it would still take a long time to get it out to the table, and i would inevitably be blamed for it, even if i did everything as soon as it was possible. i understand that there are circumstances beyond a server's control that will affect how quickly they can get their jobs done, and i'm sympathetic to them. i can't imagine actually leaving a penny tip or even stiffing someone. that's just uncalled for.

Eh owell the bitch deserved it she was obviously having a shit day and she was trying to make me have one also. I'd like the coffee without the fucking attitude.

Edit: P.S. I know she wasnt taking so long because she was making some more hot steaming coffee just for me. She had gave out some more to people like 2 tables away just a minute earlier and she then rested it on their table and she continued to serve food after I had already told her to serve me some coffee before they even asked her.

The only reason I wouldn't tip well is rudness. Slow service happens, especially in a busy restaurant.

I also get extremely embarrassed when I am with someone asking for a free meal.
We got one without asking when we went to Applebees. Our service was slow, we didnt get a couple things (small things, like the applesauce that our daughter probably wouldnt have eatten anyway, our chips never came out) and the whole time we were there, we saw our server once after she took our order.
Before she came to our table, she was busy with the table next to us, they wanted the check split in weird ways, then when she did it, they wanted it put back together and split a different way. It went on like that twice. They called the manager and he did it.
Gid and I, both having been on wait staff before, knew that it wasnt her fault that she was distracted, that table was a jerk, so when the manager happened to walk by, Gid pulled him over and told him to talk to her, tell her to calm down before getting more tables so she doesnt make mistakes on people that would stiff her tip. The manager started saying he was so sorry and compd half our ticket. We said he didnt have to but h did anyway.
We still tipped her as if it was a full ticket.
