It's not what I "think" sucks, its that they do suck. The 3 series has consistently been along the bottom in regards to reliability and time in the shop. It hasnt had a decent ranking since 1996. "German Engineering" doesnt mean shit when youre talkin BMW.
Add to the fact that it's always the same rehashed shit, for an even higher price tag every year... you're better off buying some American crap. At least its more affordable, and easier to fix.

JD Powers, Motortrend, Edmunds - and a slew of other major auto reviewers all give the 3 series very good ratings.
I don't know what side of your ass you pulled the bullshit of this particular series sucking from, but it shows you obviously know nothing about cars.
Now if you REALLY want to talk about shitty quality... I have three words for you. Ford, Chevy, Chrysler.
I've never seen a BMW on the side-o-the-road waiting for a tow. I have a couple of certified mechanic friends who all vouch for BMW products - especially the 3 series.
So, if you don't mind - I'll take the word of 3 ASC mechanics, JP Powers, Motortrend and Edmunds over a former EQ, message board posting junkie.
I bought this car because:
A. I got a fucking great deal on it.
B. I've always wanted a BMW.
C. Like it or not it IS a chick magnet.
D. I got sick of riding around in a soccor mom wagon.

No, you're not getting it.
Yes, NYC has its Manhatton... LA has its Hollywood... etc. Those are sections of an over all city. Here it's not just a "section" - it's the ENTIRE city.
You're also missing the point that I didn't buy it FOR women. I bought it because I've always wanted one and I happened to run across one I liked for a hell of a deal. The fact it will attract extra attention in this town is merely an added bonus.

My wife's Z4 (2004) has been in the shop alot more than I'd expect from a BMW. Rear tire rotors had repeat malfunction, and the sound system had a known defect that was replaced. It's all under warranty (BMW has killer service) and didn't cost us a penny but I found it odd for that to go out in the first 3 years.

you must have thought he said "ghetto"

haha, yeah... reviews on the vehicle that some guys got paid to drive and write equal quality control and reliablity stats.
i don't give a shit how many mechanics you know, it's a good thing you do. cause once that car isn't covered anymore you're going to need to know a good mechanic or two.
don't get me wrong, it's a nice looking car. has decent performance, and if you're out to impress the ladies that like shiney expensive objects you picked a pretty good car. i hope it lasts and performs to your expectations, and it doesn't become a money pit like a good chunk of BMWs.
ps i work in a garage with 7 master mechanics, so since i know twice as many mechanics +1 as you i guess that means im right.
