How is saying "Merry Christmas" ignoring Hannukah?

Well, it doesn't mention Hannukah, does it? No, neither I nor most other people are going to be even remotelyh offended by you telling me "Merry Christmas". Hell, my parents tell me that, though they know I'm not Christian any more, and I either say it back to them, or give them my own Happy Yule.

But what's so wrong in being INCLUSIVE at this time of year, when SO MANY religions have holidays? Happy Holidays includes Christmas, so you're getting your greeting. It also includes all the other festivals too. I certainly don't want stores to take down Christmas decorations, but why shouldn't I get to have my celebration recognized, if even in a generic fashion by "Happy Holidays"?

Also, if you read what I said, I'm in complete agreement with Ben Stein about displaying the Nativity, or the Manorah, etc, as long as they're on private property. You want to put up a nativity on your lawn, by all means, do so, and I'll defend to the hilt your right to display it. It's solely display as a government function that I have an issue with, and it's an issue I'd have with any religious display of any religion: christianity, judaism, shintoism, paganism, zorastrianism, whatever.

Mindia, BestBuy is doing this because they think it's what people want to hear. It has nothing to do with lawsuits.

so how does "Happy Holidays" translate to an attack on christianity?

You missed the entire point of why BestBuy is doing this.

If a major retailer tells their employees they will be terminated if they say "Merry Christmas" to customers... that is an attack on Christianity.

But Happy Holidays includes Christmas. How is that an attack? You are so vain that you demand sole and complete aknowledgement from the staff at BestBuy? Boy aren't you a good little Christian.

You are one thick-headed ignoramous. Christmas is the reason for the season, therefore that word should not be excluded from greetings.

I'm not looking for the exclusionary rule. I want to see retailers respect the reason for the season. This county is getting all convoluted as it is. We're turning into a nation of pussies who are catering to politically-correct nonsense thanks to scumbag attorneys and the aclu.

You want to talk about pussies, how about you bleeding out your vagina about some holiday greeting from BestBuy.

Conservatives are the ones who sissified everything with their constant whining and feigning victimization.

Christmas is not the "Reason" for the season. Religion in General is. There are at least 4 types of religion that celebrate during this time of year. Its not just christianity. Therefore saying "Happy Holidays" includes everyone, without showing favoritism towards one. Nobody should be bent out of shape by it, nobody should get sued from it, nobody should be fired over it.

I find it very disturbing on both fronts that people get so offended by people saying Merry Christmas, and the other side being offended for saying Happy Holidays. We wonder why our world is in such a sad shape. Its because people cant grasp simple things, instead they look at the first thing that makes them look better, or is in compliance with THEIR practices and beliefs. Going to war over religion no matter what the front is stupid, plain and simple.

So to everyone on NT

Merry Christmas
Happy Hannukah
Happy Kwanza
Happy Winter Solstice

Happy LIfe in General, nomatter what religion, or what you believe in. Happy Holidays so i include everyone that i may have missed.
