Headlights

One of the headlights on my car is out, is it pretty simple to change a car headlight yourself? Never done it before.

Don't touch the bulb, that's all I can tell you.

What kind of car?

Most cars have a bulb that you simply unplug from the inside of the engine bay, but occasionally you get one that you replace the whole lense etc but still is only a few screws.

Some cars are a huge pain though cause they keep the bulb plug in directly behind the battery and so you have to move the battery etc

If it's a late 90's or later model you'll probably only change the halogen bulb like Dylan explained. It's about as easy as unplugging a connector, then the bulb is on a twist lock type of setup where a quarter turn will free it from the lamp reflector.

Like Jay said, don't touch the glass part of the bulb with your grubby fingers because the oil your skin leaves behind will superheat on the glass and make it go pop.

It's an 02' RSX. I looked through the manual a bit and I'm pretty sure I'll need to take out the battery to get to it. For the other side I'd just have to move the power steering reservoir.

Anyways, I was looking up crap online, what's all this Halogen vs Xenon crap, which kind should I get? >_<

Xenon are the ones that have a bluish tint to them and are super bright. Go with those.

99% of the Xenon ones you buy aren't going to be the ones with the bluish tint.

Get Sylvania Silverstars, they're bright as hell and last forever.

Also, yeah, you have easy plug in blubs.

i wrecked my car and the headlight hangs off sometimes. I need to change that out. Ironic how this thread came up when my headlight is out too.

Go to a Napa Auto parts or any auto parts store and ask for some quick advice about your car. They will explain if it's something simple, or recommend a good mechanic if it isn't.

I've replaced headlights a few times, and it's no big deal.

Or if you go to Jiffy Lube or places like that they can install bulbs you have already bought for a small fee, but I wouldn't buy the ones they offer.

My Murano has xenon bulbs and they are bluish. I figured they all were.

You can get certain degrees of blue and still remain street legal afaik.
