In Indiana, a new license plate featuring the American flag and the words "In God We Trust" will be available at no extra charge. Rep. Woody Burton, the sponsor, predicted they will "sell like crazy."
arlos wrote:Actually, this doesn't bother me much, as long as that version remains a special-order personalized plate, and doesn't appear on any government-owned vehicles. As special-order items, they count as personal display, and as I said before, if private citizens want to scream their religious preferences to the world, they have every right to. I reserve the right to laugh at them for spiritual-peen waving, however.
Now, if these were the standard license plate, or if the government orders them, that'd be entirely different cases, and then I'd have an issue with it. But a special order item? Bah, no different than one of those chrome metal fishes.
