CD Drive stuck, HLEP

So my PC's CD drive is a complete pain in the ass to open.

When you hit the eject button it just makes a clunk type sound - like the door is trying to open but is being blocked by something. You either have to hit the eject button about 25 times to get it to open, or sometimes if you hit the top of the computer just as you click it it will open. oO

Any ideas on how to have be slay this problem or what could be causing it? I opened up the PC and poked around and I didnt see anything blocking the front. D:

probably a faulty gear in the mechanism

if you stick a paperclip in the release hole, can you open it easily?

Not even worth troubleshooting. Buy a new one for $30.

Pop off the cover of the cd tray (it slides off to the left 9 times out of 10)

It should work fine after that.

Yeah, I just broke down and bought a new one last night. Thanks for the advice y'all.~
