Having the same problem with a Radeon 9200 PCI card. Upgraded from GeForce MX 440 and after installing drivers I reinstalled DX9. Rebooted and it worked fine the first time. Now everytime I boot up PC, I get the 'No 3d device found' message.

I have found that if I run dxdiag before I start EQ, it works perfectly. Otherwise I get the error. This is just a work around until I can figure out why this is happening, or I just wipe the drive and start over.

reinstall dx then run the dxdiag then play. I have this problem with my ati card that every time I turn my computer off or restart it that I have to rerun the dx9 and check it before I can play again.

step one: go to sysconfig in "run"
under boot,type in the line
sys.drv=sys.drv
step 2:reboot
Step 3:unload drivers
step 4: reboot
step 5:load drivers
step 6: reboot
step 7: reload DX9,it can be laid upon old dx9.0A
Step 8: reboot
step 9: delete the various EQ files recommended ( though porbably not needed, but to be safe)
step 10:reboot
step 11: play EQ

yup same thing here, but at least I got on now!!!
