From a myriad of gaming boards, I keep reading how good EQ2 is now and nice looking, fun play etc.
What are it's negatives?
I admit I'm one of those fags that is looking forward to Vanguard to more a less "grow" with the game, even if it's not finished. At the rate I'll be able to play it, it will be a year before I'm probably ready for end-game stuff anyway.
But EQ2 sounds pretty fun, so I might try the free trial in the meantime.

I played a ranger to 40. I quit after trying to keep my tradeskills at my current aventurer level. It burned me out. Other than that it is a great game. Especially if you have 2 or 3 buds you can do the heritage quests with. The instances rock too. I can't remember the last one I did, varsoon's maybe, but every single instance I did was great fun. More fun than any wow instance.

??? You don't have to keep your tradeskill at your adventure level.
Downsides:
Mobs are linked together and you can see it. This means all pulling except body pulling is a lost art.
Crowd control is meaningless because of the linked mobs. You can't get anyone to not use group spells (spells that affect the whole group of linked mobs) so you can't mez or charm anything without it being broken an instant later.
Armor has pretty much the same graphics. All chain looks the same...no matter what level, all leather looks the same...no matter what the level, etc. Well....for the most part this is still true..especially at the lower levels, but I have been seeing a lot more diversity since EoF came out. There's also some really nice class specific stuff dropping now that all has individual looks.
There's probabably more that I'm just not thinking of atm.

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.
Why?
It's eminently soloable and I can get a group at the drop of a hat. You just quit cuz you suck. :P

You need to learn to play nice with the other kiddies.
