It's kind of hard arguing cost analysis if you are stealing. It's like saying well, you make twice what I do, but I rob a bank every few months.
If anything kills PC gaming, that'd be the thing that does it. Piracy is a much smaller issue on consoles. This is why so many developers are going more to the Wii/PS3/360 instead of PCs, despite PCs having 100 times the market share.

every console that ever existed has been modded to play "backed up" games, so that's a moot point

If it keeps going the way it seems, then playstations will coincide with PC in some way. They seem to be crossing over. I won't be suprised when Sony playstation can second as a PC.
Xbox 1 plays emulators so I don't see why the 360 wouldn't. It's a matter of time before someone releases different UI's for the 360 and ps3 that will allow that. I'm starting to agree with Lyion that the line really is a lot more blurred regarding the difference between PC and console.
You can't surf the Net worth a damn on the Wii. It's internet capabilities are very limited.
The Wii is more of a console than the 360 or PS3, IMO. However, due to its interactive nature, it's actually the only really revolutionary one of the 3, and I'm having more fun with my Wii than with my 360.

Wii is definately the most console like. PS3 and 360 seem like the same thing to me cept PS3 has better specs and 360 has titles right now. I think in the long run Sony will always have more engaging single player titles. Wii seems like more of a social system and 360 seems to be the closest thing to a PC.

if you can get internet pr0n on the wii, it's not a pure console
