Gears of War is so disgustingly bad assed. I can't think of much that is better than that.

Will do, haven't decided yet if I want to run a cable from the office to the living room or just pony up the cash for the wireless card. Almost considering just getting another wireless router, probably be cheaper then a stupid hundred dollar usb wireless nic.

And yea Gears of War is one of the games I picked up.. it's insane, I think Mass Effect is going to blow it away though.

Have you tried it on the 360? I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work based on how I think the boxes work, but I'd hate to be surprised... although they look like a cool toy to have handy regardless.

It works with any ethernet connection it's just not encrypted that I know of.

I guess I'm a little confused. How would this work on a non-wireless network? I'm not seeing how it allows your computer to stay connected the same time as your xbox.

you hook one "pod" up to your router via ethernet and then you hook the other one up to your Xbox, 360, PS3, PC, DVR, etc and the two pods just find each other wirelessly and pass packets.

it's just a small wireless repeater(WDS)

can do same thing with a lot of cheapo routers out there (running 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt on a wrt54g)

Ah i didn't realize there were 2 "pods". I assume the one then works like a router with multiple ethernet hookups?

If that's what it does I'm definately going to buy one. I've been wanting to have my PC and xbox connected at the same time but didn't want to upgrade to all wireless.

no, it works like an IR extender

maybe wireless extension cord is the best way to explain?

Yeah, each set of pods is one connection. Like Tikker said, think of it as a long ethernet cable without the cable part.

Almost all routers come with Cat 5 plugs to allow a hybrid mix of the two. Plus, you can get a good wireless router for 30 bucks or so.

Why not buy a WRT-54G or something like that?

I had a router from a long while ago but someone on this board stole it when they moved out. I remember that one cost me like $200 when I got it. I didn't realize they could be that cheap. Guess I'll look around.

Also getting that router, would it allow my PSP and DS to connect?

yup

pick up a WRT54GL from amazon or, bestbuy or whatever

(make sure you get a GL, not just a G)

then you can run dd-wrt on it for some majorly upgraded fucntionality

ok

a Linksys WRT54GL is a particular router version to buy

DD-wrt is a 3rd party firmware(OS if you like) that adds a ton of functionality to a cheap SOHO router

the best applicable part, is QOS to allow you to run torrents full blast, but not affect your 360/psp/DS online gaming

it'll also let you crank up the power to the antenna so you can get better wireless coverage in the house (if the default isn't enough)

it'll also add a shitton of other features you may never need, but might play with down the road

Go to your store and pick up a cheap wireless router, Taxx. Best Buy or Staples or wherever, or use Newegg if you like.

This is our preference, as you can install better free software on it . Mine has been up for over 300 days without a hiccup. I bought it for 30 bucks on sale at Best Buy.

There are quite a few people who can help set it up, and it's fairly easy. Give Tikker or I an IM if you need help.

The one Lyion linked is what I have. I have 3 computers, a ps3, a wii and an xbox 360, a DS and a PSP running on that bad boy without a problem.
