WHat NFL Coach will leave/get fired this year?

I'm hearing now that Cowher is going to Miami which is just beyond bizarre

That would actually shock me. Not many things in sports actually shock me....but if he goes to miamii, i would seriously be surprised.

If he goes ANYWHERE this season, it would surprise me a great deal.

I know one of the local papers was saying that the Raiders should make a run at him. Now that'd be an interesting situation, dontcha think? heh.

I actually wonder who the raiders will find to coach that disfunction bunch. They need so much work, its not even funny. The plus side to taking over the raiders, is their defense is very good, and very young.

If Cohwer goes anywhere next year, it will be to the Giants. Cohwer is still obligated to the Steelers for one more contractually. However, since the Rooney's and the Mara's have a personal relationship, I could see The Steelers waiving the one year if he goes to The Giants.

rumour has it he'll show up as a "special consultant" to the dolphins this year, taking over the program the year after

which doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me because it'd be tough to find a coach for the dolphins for a single year

Both of Miami's Coordinators were former Cowher assistants and former head coaches.

Miami just gave Dom Capers some pretty good dough to stay as DC the next few years. He could easily be acting head coach for a year.

Poor Whisenhunt. He would've flourished in Pitt, but will suck in Arizona.

it's too bad for the steelers too, cause it would have meant an almost seemless transition too

Rooney's don't have a history of hiring assistants to replace long time coaches either

Pittsburgh picked Minnesota's defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin as their new head coach. With that, I think the only opening left is the Raiders.

ESPN reported it earlier today. As of now they are still saying he got the offer on their update stroll at the bottom of the screen.

Well apparently Tomlin wants the job, the steelers just havnt actually "offered" him the job. However the steelers say he is "their guy". An official announcement will be sunday or monday to make Tomlin their coach.

Tomlin does like the cover 2 so the defense may switch to the 4-3 but that would mean a total remake of the front 7. Joey Porter might be toast.

Tomlin's defense in Minnesota was best in the NFL against the run in 2006, allowing just 61.6 yards per game, but tied with Cincinnati for last against the pass, allowing 238.6 yards per game through the air.

Tomlin is going to retain Dick Lebuae as the defensive coordinator. So its not a gimme that he changes it to the 4-3 defense. Also the type of defense that is coached is also very very dependant on the players. The Steelers have the linebacking corpse to run a 3-4 effectivly.
