Ok.. so here's the situation.
I'm currently living with my ex, both our names are on the house, but I'm moving this month to Florida. I sold my own car because we only have a 2 car garage and we had no room to park the truck and 2 other cars.
Now that I'm moving, I'm signing the house over to him - it was all his down payment that went in the house and really we've only lived here a little over a year so I haven't put much money toward the house at all. He's going to give me the truck so that it's beneficial to both of us - I'm not having him pay me anything to buy me out of the house, but he's going to give me the vehicle so I can move easily without paying a huge fee to move all my shit (I really don't have that much to move, a car would move it easily, I have furniture where I'm moving, not here)
So, here's the question - he'll sign the truck title over to me, but currently we share insurance, I'm secondary under his. Now, I won't keep the truck since there's no need to have a 4wd in Florida where there's no snow.. so my thing is, do I trade it in up here and get my own insurance via a nationwide type of company (ie geico, allstate, etc) or drive the truck down there (though gas mileage for a 1200 mile drive would be hell) and he says he'll keep me on his insurance for the drive and then just drop me after that. For his sake I think I'd rather be on my own insurance (not to mention have my own more fuel efficient car for the drive), but I don't know what would be best.
