My favorite press conference will always be that one from the Tampa Bay Buc's in their 1st or 2nd season, I forget which it was.

They were like 0-10 at the time, had just got blown out again, and a reporter asked the head coach, "So, Coach, what do you think about your team's execution?"

His answer: "I'm in favor of it."

Yeah, but was that any better than his "Diddly Poo" rant when he was with the Saints?

Blessed by the schedule, again...

Spurs were the better team for 46 minutes... then the Suns turned it on. They were playing 'at home' after 2 days rest, vs the Spurs playing on the road after a tough loss to Utah.

The final score is hardly representative of the battle that these two teams fought. The Spurs were running on fumes for the last 5 minutes and the rested Suns took advantage of it.

HOWEVER...

Amare was looking like 2004-2005 form. He was disgustingly abusive on the boards. THAT ALONE scares me. This was the ONLY game that I've seen him play like his old self, and it was NOT against a pussy East team with a weak interior... so... I'll give you guys that. Marion, Nash, Diaw, Bell, Jones... not worried. If Amare plays like this against us, that's something to keep me up at night.

Amare was amazing last night....23 boards right? Sure schedule did help im sure. I still think Dallas is the better team, if Amare is back to form though I think it would be one of the best epic battles in the playoffs in a long time.

I guess we can negate all the games the mavs won when the team was coming off of a back to back.

Vonk, you really sound like a bitter fanbois right now.

Phoenix is the best team in the NBA right now.

Take comfort in the fact the best teams do not always win championships.

The bulls are one move away from being the best in the east. They need to make a move though.

That is not saying much. Your Raptors is in first place with a .500 record.

How about the score keepers in Atlanta giving two points to the other team when we scored~

It's been an odd year. We have a chance to get over with a win over Atlanta tonight. The great thing about playing in the east, there's always a game against Boston or Atlanta just around the corner.

Tell me how they are the best team?

Dallas is 2-0 against Phoenix, they have the best record in the league and are 11-5 (.687) against the playoff teams of the West.

Phoenix is 0-2 against Dallas, they have the 2nd best record in the league and are NOW 3-8(.272) against the playoff teams in the West.

Compare the two paragraphs... how can you possibly say Phoenix is a superior team to Dallas? We have a nearly identical record DESPITE the fact that we've played more difficult opponents (and beaten them), AND we are 2-0 against them. Even if we had the EXACT same schedule and the EXACT same record, we are STILL TWO AND OH against the Suns. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

I'll rephrase it for you:

"Phoenix is the best team in the league at defeating Eastern Conference teams by really big margins."

and

"Dallas has the league's best record and is undefeated against the 2nd best team in both matchups."

Zanchief wrote:I guess we can negate all the games the mavs won when the team was coming off of a back to back.

Nice.

I didn't say that it negated the victory, I simply said that it helped. Phoenix is CONSTANTLY aided by their ridiculously cushy schedule. They went on a tear through the East, and now they have to face Western conference opponents, they STILL get a small edge. But... a win is a win. I didn't try to make a case that San Antonio is the superior team... if they were, they would have found a way to win it - fight through the fatigue. They are now 1-1 against San Antonio. Cong. Still 3-8 against the rest of the playoff teams. And the announcers talked about that ALL NIGHT LONG. This was a game that Phoenix HAD to win, to silence all of 'us'. The critics... people just like me that were hitting that soft spot... Phoenix has not proven a THING to us, before last night. Amare changed my mind on that. And Barkley is totally on my side on that... Stein, Simmons and Hollinger may be in love with Phoenix, but I still have Chuck =p. Amare is the X-Factor now.

Dallas is cursed by fixed games, an evil scheduler who wants to thwart their fight against the evil empire.

Further, they are obviously being cursed by a media that ignored their 38-9 record which is obviously LOADS better than Phoenix's 37-9 record!

Seriously.

Phoenix is playing good right now, as is Dallas. You can't argue with success, but I think in a 7 game series right now, I like Phoenix. That can certainly change rapidly, but most analysts agree that the Suns are the best team in the league due to the way they are playing.

The team that's playing the best hoops now is the best team. that'd be Phoenix, not Dallas.

Your San Antonio analysis was utter rubbish, Vonk. C'mon, you're better than that, and objective. I think you are becoming too emotionally involved with the Mavs.

But we aren't saying Dallas is a bad team. We just believe, like a lot of other people, that Phoenix is better. This isn't solely best on records and games so far, this is judging from the rosters of the teams.

So... You are making 'no' argument... You are just saying, "the analysts say that the Suns are better, and so I agree with them."

I'm putting up facts, history, stats and numbers... you are just using some other opinion and going with it. Way to think for yourself.

2-0. Better CONFERENCE record. Better LEAGUE record. Better HOME record (which most CERTAINLY matters if we finish at #1)... Say something other than, "Mark Stein says they are better and he's smarter than me so I agree with him." If it's just a gut feeling, fine. Just say it. Your gut tells you they are better and we can simply disagree. But the history... the numbers are on my side.

I'm one of millions, including Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, who wanted to see Phoenix beat someone WORTHY. They did that last night and I WAS IMPRESSED. Amare 'might' be the single thing that puts them over the top. But he's had ONE game like that all season long. If he keeps playing like that, we might agree.

I don't read any of those guys except Simmons, and I read his stuff for humour. I think his analysis is terrible. People under achieve. People over achieve. Records, in all their permutation, don't make up the whole story. Especially when you're taking a small sample like 45 games. I think Phoenix has the better roster. It's opinion.

Agreed, but the zebras had something to do with that one.

A better analogy would have been the Lakers over the Pistons a few years ago.

Lakers may have had the better record, but the pistons had the better team.
