Gratz on letting the government have another $4500 of your money to spend as they please while you earn jack shit on it.

That money would be better served earning interest in one of your accounts.

Yes, Lionking, he really has a choice on what to do when it comes to paying taxes.

I paid in roughly $600 I am getting back almost $3000. Yah for being a poor single mother.

I dont know yet, I still am waiting to get my W-4's from my old job. So far it's looking good. I don't know if divorcing and moving to another state will affect it. Anyone know? Also, I am not sure but my new job may have pushed me into the next tax bracket because I doubled my previous yearly salary.

Earned Income Credit + Child Tax Credit = $$

A couple years ago, I did the taxes of a lady who paid in nothing, claimed to have her own business, but suffered severe losses for the year, had 3 kids, and received just under $7000 from the IRS. I had a colleague double check the forms to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. God help her if the IRS ever audits her.

You should adjust your W-4 so your employer will withhold less money. That way you won't be loaning the government money interest free.
