Ok, instead of soup, he ate "albatross tartare" on the island. Then when he ate the raw albatross, he had an epiphany and killed himself. Correct?

yes

he unknowingly ate a family member, but deep down knew it wasn't the albatross that they told him it was

upon ordering the raw albatross he KNEW 100% that they'd eaten the family member, so went out and killed himself

Yeah, basically correct.

Here is the full answer, as per the game, goes as follows:

A man, his brother, and his father own a fishing boat.
The entire crew heads out to fish, and while out, a storm comes.
His brother is killed in the storm - the crew tells him they had to throw the body overboard.
The boat and all the fishing rigs are disabled and broken during the storm.
The crew is stranded for weeks and faces starvation, and albatross circle overhead in the dozens.
Eventually, one of the crew members offers the man some raw meat which he claims came from an albatross he caught.
Still skeptical, the man eats it anyway because he is starving, and he notices his father has a strange expression on his face as he eats.
Finally, they are rescued and lead to shore.
The man, wishing to quell his doubts once and for all, goes into the restaurant there on shore, and orders raw albatross so he can verify what he ate was genuine.
After the first bite, he realizes what he previously ate could not possibly be raw albatross, and was, in fact, his brother.
In despair, he goes out, and kills himself.

That's the entire answer as per the game card.
You're supposed to be able to gather all that in one minute or less. I think the people who made that game are nuts.
The record for one person is 38 minutes.
For a group, 1 1/2 hours (because they kept throwing one another off).

I was in Minnesota over the weekend and my mom gave me a huge box of crap to sort through that I left behind when I moved out. MindTrap was in there. I had forgotten I owned it. Brought it back down to Atlanta with me. Just thought that was funny that I hadn't even thought of that game in about 6 years, then within a matter of days since bringing it home, it's brought up here :)

Ok, ok... here's a real riddle.

My branches are many, and my roots run deep.
I am the cause of unrest, and much lost sleep.
I am more powerful than those at my side,
Yet I would be nothing without their reside.
My labels are varied, I have many kin,
But of all mother's children, none are like me within.
Most use me daily, usually without care,
But without my existence, yours could be in despair.
Some call me friend, and some call me foe.
Those who love and covet me are in the know,
And without them, I'd have nothing to show.

What am I?

I'm pretty sure I still have Mind Trap somewhere... there was also a second version of the game.
