$35,000 and it doesn't generate a ton of watts, though. Hopefully the tech in the future will get better.

This is the direction we need to go. Houses off the grid and generating their own watts in a green way.

there's a big movement here to replace standard asphat shingles with solar panel style ones

we get a LOT of sunlight here, and the solar panels are actually way more efficient when they're cold

and we've cold in spades around here (it's -34 out right now, jeje)

one of the engineers I work with did it homebrew at his place, and he generates enough power to run his TV and his PC with just solar, so that's not bad(and he didn't spend more than $5k either)

Yar, lots of Cooperative Electric Companies are doing that. Too bad they are rare and limited based upon geography =(
