I totally understand why people hate comcast now~
I've been here two days and the net has fucked out at least 6 times.
I found out what my dad pays for his cable service including his movie channels etc, he pays double what I did with Charter, gets 1/4 of the movie channels I did, and net access is unstable at best
Definitely not one of the better cable companies I've encountered.

well like I said, I've only been here 2 days so I haven't really gotten to hate them as much as I likely will.. but after only 2 days I'm already appalled by their service, or lack thereof

Their Customer Service typically sucked ass as well. It got to be bad enough one time that I was actually inspired to write a nasty gram to someone up the corporate ladder. We got a written apology, a free month of service, and a ton of coupons for free On Demand movies. After that CS has been pretty nice to us. I bet there's a bunch of hurtful notes on our file calling us all sorts of colorful things.
It just really sucks that there aren't any other options when it comes to cable service. I never understood it really - I mean I guarantee if Time Warner, Charter, Cox, or anyone else entered areas that Comcast currently services and posed some competition Comcast would be out of business.
It's either Comcast or another form of connection, and I much prefer cable to anything else.

We hav Comcast cable, we pay extra for HDTV channels, etc. EVERYTIME I am watching something, and it doesnt even have to be in HD, my TV gets these little boxes and it freezes, etc. They come out every time and give some stupid reason and it should be fine and it never is. Then last time they said it was old wires in my house, and they charged me $30 for the visit. I was like, Ummm, the house is less than a year old, and it has brand new lines that you guys installed for us, we had to pay extra for that too.
Im thinking about going back to Direct TV

i never had any problems with it where i used to live, but i was probably the only person on that dirt road with their internet.
now that i'm in a city, it's been shitty. the internet crashes about once a day, sometimes more. so far it's been nothing that didn't repair itself, or fix when i restarted the modem. but all together it sucks, especially at the price.

I pay $85 or so for verizon fios. Thats for TV and internet.
We used to use Comcast before FIOs came to our area, and everything was fine, only outage we had was during a big storm, which was to be expected. Only complaint with them was the On Demand sometimes had scambly parts. It wasnt too expensive either since we signed up during some kind of deal they were having.

yeah, 140 a month for their standard extended cable package and internet to me is outrageous. With Charter I had every channel minus NBA league pass and the porn types that you pay extra for, internet that went out once in the 2 1/2 years I was there, and I paid 95 a month.
I miss my charter already

Verizon fios came to my area with a cheaper price than comcast too. I was about to sign up for their service until i read the contract agreement. 5 year contract, prices subject to change at any time, and if you cancel before contract was up there was a 1000.00 disconnect fee lol. Sure my On Demand might lag like hell sometimes but its video access into a computer, and the software is still beta, thats why its free. F Contracts, they just bend you over in the end.
ohhhhhh rusteh.

I hear ya, Gyps. Their cable rate is way too high for what you get. Also, I had Comcast a couple years ago, and I couldn't take the bog down on the internet connection EVERY day at about 5pm when most people got home and got on the internet. AT&T DSL, although not as fast, is 10x more reliable than comcast cable internet.
