network helpzzz

Post by Tacks »

I tried to PM Tikker and he hasn't been on here for a while and I need to get an answer before I leave work. On a tech scale rating my questions are probably about a 2 out of 10 in difficulty, just need someone with experience. Lemme know and I'll send a PM.

Whats up? Tikker is much better at that stuff than I am, but I can try and help.

weird, I didn't get any notification of a PM waiting, sorry

long story short

plug the wireless router into the modem (LAN port)

plug existing PC into any of the 4 WAN ports

then log into the router (192.168.1.1) and set up the wireless portion (ssid and encryption [WEP/WPA])

for the 2nd pc you'll need a wireless nic of some sort (usb or pci, doesn't matter. usb easier to work with in some ways)
install it, and add matching SSID and encryption to the nic

should be gtg then
