Stop for change lands driver in heap of trouble

If you are too drunk to drive, you might want to think about ditching the assault rifle. And the cocaine. Ditto the marijuana. And you definitely don't want to pretend you're a police officer.

Gwinnett police have arrested a 24-year-old Lawrenceville man after he asked for change for $100 at a fast-food drive-through last week and the clerk noticed an assault rifle in his lap.

He was slurring his words as he asked for change at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at a McDonald's on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, police said in a news release Monday. When the driver noticed that the clerk had seen the gun, the driver claimed he was a police officer. He either passed out or fell asleep at the wheel.

Store clerks called police and said the man appeared to have been drinking. The driver awoke a moment later, got upset because he didn't get his change and left.

Gwinnett police found Mohammed Faizal Taki semiconscious in a parked car nearby. Taki had pulled off on the side of the road. A search of his car revealed an assault rifle, cocaine, marijuana and various rounds of ammunition, police said. During processing, sheriff's deputies found a small bag tucked in Taki's shoes. The white, chalky substance field tested as cocaine, police said. Final tests are pending.

Police charged Taki with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and cocaine, impersonating an officer, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon during a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Taki was denied bond and is being held at Gwinnett County Jail.

no I don't feel comfy with anyone driving around with an assault rifle, it's totally ignorant to say that because of his race it makes you uncomfortable. you shouldn't be comfortable with anyone at all driving around with coke, drunk, and a rifle in his lap. the guy is a dipshit and worthless on the grounds that he's a dipshit and worthless, anyone of any other race would be in the same class in my book, it's unjustified to put another strike against him based on his name. for all you know he could be a born american, you know there are citizens here with ethnic names. i'm not saying that's fact, i'm saying to assume the worst of an entire group of people just because of the actions of their peers is incredibly sad to me. I'm not defending this guy, I think he's a total loser.. but he's a loser for his personal actions, not because of the actions of others.

Doesn't YOUR constitution protect the rights of all Americans (even if they have towels on their heads) to have assault rifles?

Or does your constitution have amendments that only people of specific color or religion are protected?

He has just as much of a right to an assault rifle as you do because he is every bit as American as you are.

It really shouldn't have anything to do with whatever the hell he is other then being what he really his, a god damn idiot. Truthfully, do I feel comfy? No, but if someone is a citizen of this country, and can be granted a permit for the firearm, its his right, and restricting ones groups rights for whatever reason can lead to everyone being barred from a firearm.

In the end, the guy is just another fucking idiot. Nothing much more then that.

Felons aren't allowed to carry firearms, much less a fucking assault rifle.

He has NO right to an assault rifle because he is every bit as a criminal as any other felon.

Sure, but what is being objected to here about Kahar is that he objected to the man owning an assault rifle because he's a MUSLIM, not because he's a felon. No sane person is going to argue that as a felon he had a right to ownt he assault rifle. That would be pointless and stupid.

But to argue that an american citizen shouldn't be allowed to own an assault rifle because his name contains the word "Mohammed" in it is racist bullshit, pure and simple.
