Same here. I live in an apartment so they say, hey, sorry you have to move for plowing by 9am or we tow you (and they will), so not only did I dig my car out of that same shit, but pushed/dug out at least around 5 other vehicles as well that took two hours. What made it even better was when we moved to the spot they told us to, a public park, that wasn't plowed out either so now a bunch of us are stuck over there. Seriously, fuck snow.

haha ya i got my car stuck in a mud-filled crater-sized pothole that i didn't see because it was cleverly disguised by snow. an hour and $60 later, a tow truck rescued me (and its operators laughed at me . . . the shame!!!).

josh got his car stuck in his driveway this morning hehe . . . i had to take him to work and i'll get the supreme joy of waiting until 3 to take my lunch break so i can pick him up from work. yaaay.

on a somewhat related note, only about 10 women made it into work yesterday, and of those 10, 5 wore pants (we have a skirts-only dress code for women at our company). today, those 5 got called into a special meeting and reprimanded for breaking our pants rule (it has to be below 20 degrees at the warmest for us to be allowed to wear a professional pantsuit). that is such bullshit to me because seriously, it was snowing still and the ground had 5 inches of snow on it already. i felt really bad for those girls because some of them were so frustrated that they cried. what a stupid dress code.

i, however, took advantage of the fact that i'm salaried (and the fact that my power went out) and took a snow day. ^_^

WTF, there's a rule girls have to wear skirts? Is that legal? I'm pretty sure you could sue for sexual discrimination for that.

that's what i've always thought, too--how on earth do they get away with it?

i think it's because we go into it knowingly. they make very sure to inform us of the dress code before hiring.

doesn't mean i don't still think it's crap :(

the head designer is female. otherwise, it's mostly men. and the head honcho (who calls the shots and came up with the dress code in the first place AND makes sure that it's enforced) is a man. go figure.

they actually have told us that "professional attire" affects our productivity.

the other: my insurance doesn't cover women's health (contraceptives, yearly well-woman exams, etc.)

Do you guys have work outing at the strippers? Seems like a pretty misogynistic place.

Probably moreso because it's in Nebraska and the court system there wouldn't allow it.

That doesn't make it right.

If a company can force you to stop smoking while not at work, or force you to pay more because you smoke, even if you don't at work.

Being forced to wear a dress sounds perfectly reasonable. I bet the IT guys loving putting in patch cables jeje

HA!

Companies have the right to have a certain dress code, as long as you are notified of it before taking the job.

Look at H@@ter's dress code. Short shorts, no law suites there.

Some companies have group policies for health insurance and it is no fair to the healthy non-smokers to pay for those purposely ruining their health driving up premiums.
