What if I hear 30 seconds of a song and decide it's shit and disconnect, do they still have to pay for the whole song I decided not to listen to?

I think I've bought approximately 50+ CDs directly due to file sharing. I wouldn't have found the music otherwise. Before that I bought like 4-5 in my entire lifetime. *shrug*
I largely think this RIAA stuff is insane, they're money grubbing lawyers for the most part - but I can respect artists wanting/getting royalties for playing their work or wishing for their work not to be shared *IF* they themselves actually want that.
It seems like (unless you're a mega-giant band like Metallica, Brittney Spears, whatever) any increased exposure of your music means more people going to your concerts, buying your T-shirts, ect - which is where the money is.
