Not to bump this somewhat derailed post but this is a valid analogy IMHO for why alcohol should be outlawed while not at home, i.e. in all public places, just like smoking.
Someone said drinking doesn't affect everyone around them but that isn't exactly true.
As for DUI/DWI, someone that gets in an accident with another driver while drunk should have an "attempted murder" or something along those lines thrown at them. If they crash and do not hit another person then it should be "drunk driving".
That is the line IMHO.
