How to Fix America

Postby Scatillac » Tue Mar 20, 2007 2:01 pm

Lets start with the problems that are being addressed. War, Gas Prices, Illegal Immigration and Global warming.

Now for the fix. The Electric car.

How?

Simple.

With the Electric car, we wont need foreign oil anymore. No More Oil War.

With the Electric Car, Emissions will be reduced over 80%. A MAjor fix to some Global Warming Issues.

With That said, Gas Demand will Drop. Cheaper Gas

Now, Immigration. Increase the Minimum wage and Re-train all the peopel that just lost their jobs at Jiffy Lube and BP to work in other areas that are mainly over-run with illegal immigrants AND OUTSOURCING.

Charging: Solar Shingles- Shingles on the roof of a house that are actually solar panels, generating enough power to charge the vehicle and almost the entire house.

Old Gas Stations: Charging stations with a starbucs or something, or some trees or something i dunno.

They can make a pure electric car that gets 400 miles before a recharge that takes 2 hours.

This will never happen i know. But i can dream

With the money weve wasted in Iraq it could have been done already. Keep that in mind.

There are serious problems with fully electric cars. What if I need to drive from San Francisco to Seattle, say? A distance of 8-900 miles. For me, that's a 1-day drive, takes about 12.5 hours, last time I did it. The LAST thing I would want to do on such a trip is have to stop, TWICE for 2+ hours at a stretch to charge my car up.

So, sure, for daily commuting, electric cars are fine. For driving any distance, forget it.

1 more thing, on the Hummer over Prius thing. the battery pollution issue in canada... Were talking a few square miles.. Gas, wer talking the whole planet. The reason the pollution is so bad around that plant is because they dont really care. It can be contained easily, and if not, build the plants in a sea of sand in a desert somewhere, or space...

The answer would have been found already if the oil companies weren't sitting on the patents to potential solutions to keep themselves on top.

Hook up alternators to stationary bikes, make people pedal the bikes while they watch tv. Solve the US energy and obesity problems at the same time.

Now, Immigration. Increase the Minimum wage and Re-train all the peopel that just lost their jobs at Jiffy Lube and BP to work in other areas that are mainly over-run with illegal immigrants AND OUTSOURCING.

Or for the more conservative solution, a national sales tax (replacing income/SS taxes) would dramatically reduce the financial damage illegals cause since they'd be paying back into the system instead of completely mooching, and employers would no longer benefit as much from paying illegals under the table to avoid SS/ect expenses.

Abolishing public schools and using the funds for private school vouchers would probably deter some illegals purposefully having children in the US to take advantage of that - since vouchers would require paperwork and citizenship proof.

The illegal immigrants still pay a large amount toward the government in income tax, even if it is not under the name they were born under.

That's because Arlos is brilliant Gaazy =p

Lyion got it right though :

Even if we didn't have fossil fuels as our main means to power our automobiles, there will ALWAYS be blood shed over oil, untill it's all gone.

Even if the mines and factories that harvest and produce Nickel and batteries only destroy the environment a few miles around itself, keep in mind that air streams and travels around the world, as does the pollution and acid rain that are bi products from said factories.

Solar Panels are a great idea, but not really optional for lots of the US where they get dumped with lots of snow.

And if they raise mininum wage, that just means everything else gets more expensive to match it. Plus not mention, say Sunkist for example uses immigrant workers and pays them 5 dollars an hour, and now they have to pay the same workers 15 dollars an hour, imagine what that does to the cost of the orange your eating. And you could apply that to any goods / service that relies heavily on immigrant work.

Not to mention, I'm a firm believer that we already have the means and technology to replace fossil fuels, or atleast make them 300% more efficient / cleaner, we just choose not to because it would majorily disrupt the world's economy. 75 Years down the road when our fossil fuels are almost completely exhausted, there will be an alternative waiting for us.

I wonder how hard it really is to convert a car to electric? And what sort of issues you'd then have to deal with to have it insured and such? Are converted electrics even street legal?
