Kobe Bryant is the MVP of the NBA

Boozer (.561)
Timmie (.536)
Yao (.514)
Bosh (.503)
Dirk (.499)
KG (.482)

You're telling me you'd be able to pick Dirk out of that bunch, on FG alone? Suuuure. Full line? Hell yeah, his numbers would stand out like a sore thumb. Sick 3s, way more PPG, FT% through the roof. Combine those personal stats with TEAM stats (36-4 in 07, etc) and what do you get? MVP. Dirk has a 32/9/8/2/4 game in the MIDDLE of a 17 game winning streak. Kobe has a 65 point game to END a 7game losing streak. That's the difference.

Yea whatever, my guy has a better FG% then your guy.

Plus my dad is like twice as strong as your dad.

Bosh is just as important to the Raptors as any of those guys are to their teams.

Now... KG to the Wolves? That's a different story. That team would be lucky to win 3 games without Garnett.

Witch i was rooting for them in that series. I love the Suns, i hate the Lakers, but i was rooting for them. Why? Because Kobe was "LEADING" that team in the playoffs. He was allowing the game to come to him, he was distributing the ball, taking GOOD shots, setting screens, Making HIS team better, and they almost beat the very heavily favorite Suns.

If Kobe where to play like he did in the playoffs last year, I would have no quarrels with picking him as my MVP. He reverted this year, partially because of injuries to his team, partially because he is just a selfish player (i would be too if i had that talent).

Watching that Lakers team last year, with the way Kobe made them better, willed them into winning, sharing the basketball, encouraging off the ball movement (himself and others) and taking GOOD shots when needed, was beautiful.

Oh, of COURSE I was rooting for the Lakers ;)

AND the Clippers...

hehe.

I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for between the Suns and Spurs... both are fucking dangerous.

On another note...

8th seed.
Nuggets, Warriors, Clippers, Hornets, Timberwolves?

Who wants it? Anyone? Anyone? To make it means you get to play the Mavs in the first round (sweep, unless it's the Warriors, which would be an interesting series) and you lose your spot in the 2nd deepest lottery in 15 years.

I disagree. I think he's been very unselfish this year until Phil told him too shoot the ball more.

People don't get down on Ray Allen for taking alot of shots? Why does every jump on Kobe? He shoots a good percentage for the volume he shoots. Actually it's a great percentage when you consider his volume.

Look at other guys that are in his FG attempted range. AI, Arenas not even close.

Plus he's really good with the ladies.

ALSO WAS I RIGHT ABOUT THE STAT LINES. I want to know what my test result was.

I think the Nuggets will take the 8th spot. Although I would like the Warriors to break their playoffless streak but those guys can't hold a fucking lead to save their lives.

I think the Nuggets need it.

The way that team is built if they go into the lottery it would be devastating.

Poor Garnett. The guy has too much honor.

Im probably the only one in Washington that still watches the Sonics religously:(

I dont believe Ray takes even remotely in the same area code of shots as Kobe does. The distribution on the Sonics is actually pretty good. Chris Wilcox, Rashard Lewis, Allen, and even the point gaurds score.

The Sonics are actually not a Horrible team, by any stretch. I think its Bob Hill that brings them down, and the fact that they have no idea where they will play in 2 years. It looks like a group in Renton (just outside of Seattle) will wind up building an Arena, and sports complex for them, and they will stay in the Seattle Area witch is good.

We have a good nucleaous and are fairly deep, depending how we do in the Lottery this year, i think we will be a 6 seed in the west next year. :hiphop:

If they keep drafting the way they have been they'll never get better.

I dont know, they havnt drafted Horribly. Not great by any stretch. Petro has developed nicely, and he is really young. He needs some meat on his bones. Nick Collison has really shown improvements these last 2 years, and Robert Swift (my vote for goofiest white guy in sports) has put alot of muscle on, and was playing very well before his injury.

I really think we need a much better PG. Ridnour has peaked, and has been under alot of fire in Seattle, and Earl Watson, while he has play has been effective, he is not my ideal starting point. He is great as a second option off the bench though.

Seattle's problem with the draft is due to their position every year. Mediocre record, mediocre pick. Ive almost been rooting for them to tank this year to get more balls in the lottery

Ray Allen 5.6 FT per game

Kobe Bryant 9.9 FT per game

So really he is taking about 4.5 shots more per game roughly, remember getting fouled when you are doing a layup, unless it goes in, it doesnt count.

So over the course of an 82 game season 369 more shots a year. Thats alot, when your talking about Kobe taking around 2000 shots. 15% more shots than Ray Allen roughly?

Im certainly not saying Ray doesnt shoot the ball ALOT, but Kobe still does more, by a decent amount.

Actually going to correct myself. It would be about half the amount of shots that i quoted...about 2.25 more shots per game. So 160ish more shots on the year.

It's a team game, with many players having different roles. The MVPs are the guys who hoist the trophy at the end of the year.

Basketball is a dynamic enough game that you can argue forever about who the 'best' player was. I think Jordan was a better athlete than Bird or Magic, but I never, ever would've said he was the MVP over either when they were all playing together in their primes.

Then again, NBA has moved more from being a 'we' sport to being an 'I' sport, so MVP probably should mean Most Videoclipped Player...

Hard to say since they weren't playing in their prime together.

Back when Jordon, Bird, Dr J, Bill Russell and Jerry West were all playing together and in their primes... I'd say that CLEARLY, Lebron James was the MVP.

Michael Jordan once was asked who he would want to take a shot with the game on the line, other than himself. Before the question could be finished, Jordan quickly responded, "Larry Bird."[Sports Illustrated, June 21, 2005]

Uh, yeah... and Kareem Abdul Jabar ALSO played during the same time as Jordon but his greatest years were when Jordon was in elementary...

"Prime"

Bird and Magic's PRIME was during the mid 80s. Jordon's prime was during the 90s. This can't be argued. This is sports 101.
