You are the GM of the team that has the first round pick in this years NBA draft.

Oden or Durant, who do you pick? Why do you pick him?

To me if you have the first pick you can't draft out of need. IMO Durant is the better player though. The way the league is officiated now, Durant will be just awesome in the NBA.

Having said that I think no GM in the league has the balls to pass on Oden. He has the biggest chance of bitting them in the ass and making them look stupid.

I think Durant can be the next Kobe Bryant. He has all the moves and can shoot. Oden is excellent on defense. He could be the last wall of defense for the team that run a lot and gives up a shit load of layups like the fucking Warriors.

Oden. Guys like this come by only once every 5 or 6 drafts... and they are often a gamble. You have to remember, even Dwight Howard was, "A gamble, with tremendous upside if he develops into a player." If Howard played 2 years in college and came out right now, you think he'd be a lock at #1? With the way he's playing in the NBA? Fuck yes he would. Bosh. Howard. Amare. Ming and 'kind of' Okafor. That's it. Big men rule the draft.

Durant isn't that much smaller than Bosh is though. That's the type of player I see him becoming. Maybe even better.

I want to see the Celtics get 3rd overall or worse, if only because I think the article Simmons would write about it as he blows an aneuyrism over not getting Oden or Durant would be hysterical.

Much worse than 3rd... the projected top 6 picks are all future all-stars.

They need to be the first lottery ball that drops :teehee:

I'd love to see it happen. No team deserves to be screwed more than the Cs. The tank job they've done this year is embarrassing.

His articles about the Celtics are absolutly hilarious. Very good reads.

I agree with Vonk, you have to go with Oden here. Durant type players are much more common than Oden types.

Out of curiosity does anyone know when the last time an NBA team won a championship without a BIG inside presence?

None of the Bulls championship teams had a big 5. That's what made them so special.

The six are...

Actually top 10 on the draft board.

Greg Oden, Ohio state

Kevin Durant , Texas

Julian Wright , Kansas

Brandan Wright, North Carolina

Al Horford, Florida

Joakim Noah, Florida

Yi Jianlian, China (will be a star)

Jeff Green, Georgetown

Spencer Hawes, Washington

Al Thornton, Florida State

Thats the projected draft order, all of them in the top 10 are projected for great things in the NBA. Hell the top 15 i wouldnt mind having any of them on my team. Its very very deep this year.

You're assuming that some of them will declare since they are underclassmen.

Yeah, but they were competing during an era where some of the most dominating big men of all time prowled the paint... Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, Wilkens to name a few... even a young Shaq and Shawn Kemp to a lesser degree.

Yep, also I'd put Noah third out of that draft list.

Noah's stock has dropped a bit this year. He hasnt improved his game at all, wich many scouts thought he would have staying an extra year in college. Many believe he isnt even the player with the most upside for the NBA coming out of the draft this year from Florida (<---edit)
