the two guys are skateshop owners. it is illegal to skate in charleston. this guy was shoved by this officer.

they were on good morning america this morning but are not angry and do not want to sue or anything-they just want it to be legal to skate.

watch the video. you can see that he didn't see the officer coming.

Haha skat0r boi. All i can think of is avril lavigne, sorry. No i'm not, but I have a ton of friends that skate and I have mad respect for the coordination that it takes to be good, and the pain they go through while learning. To say all skateboarders are drop out fag losers is like saying all cowboys are gay and love watching Broke Back Mountain together.

*All* the ones I knew are fuck ups, I really cant think of one that turned out ok. You know, the cool kids who in high school sat at the end of the parking lot smoking cigarettes because they were the cool thing to do, and skated around in circles >< Most of them now either work at gas stations or do nothing at all, but can still be seen skating around town high as a kite. I guess you know different ones than me

Yea, theres 2 different types of skaters, 1) ones who actually skate, and the other type 2) is the ones that just try and look the part. From your description, you've only met the number 2s, and I can't stand them. Those aren't skaters, they are drop out fags that walk around with skate boards, theres a huge difference =p. I'm talking about the kind of skaters that do Demo's for sponsers and go to the X games, it's a whole different ballgame. All the real skaters I know are real laid back and modest, eager to make friends with any one. All the wannabe's I know are douchebags that can't find a proper social click to fall into.

Ok, but is Tony Hawk the exception or the norm? Not that I have anything against people who like to skateboard, but very few make a profession out of it.

Sure but a generalization based on a very small number of "skaters" (professionals) is much less accurate then one based on a very large number of rebel without a cause skate where they aren't supposed to (armatures/wanna be). I guess I took issue with propping him up as an example refuting the statement because I don't even see them in something even close to the same realm.

I grew up as a skater and I turned out ok...I didnt make a profession out of it, but I didnt make a profession out of football, baskteball, or wiffle ball either, all of which I played in the neighborhood.

I would rather my kid be out skating than on her ass in front of the tv / computer all the time.

I skated where it was legal to do so. It wasn't legal to do it in area's, so I didn't.

It's illegal to skate on the streets and in the city limits there, which is just a simple law, and within the citys rights to do so. If one doesn't like the law, then work to change it. If a kid ignores it, I hope he gets fined heavily.

I'd prefer my downtown area remains illegal to skate. There are trails and places to go for that, and I hope that those who do decide to break the law realize they are wrong.

The city should be suing these guys for the damage they cause and the fact they knowingly break the law

Lyion you're a square. Laws are man's futile attempt at boundaries. Notice how they get crossed.

I'm not saying you shouldn't have boundaries but ones that pose no thread to other human beings make no sense.

Smart cities build public places for kids to skate. And no Lyion, trails and parking lots don't cut it.
