you need to work out the kinks before selling software.

But then they'd have to pay product testers. It's much cheaper to unleash it on an unsuspecting general public.

I still use windows 95 personally, it just works best cause it doesn't have all the fancy bs to get in the way.

It has a few quirks and so far all of them seem to be security related. I've resolved all the issues I had with it but I think the more average user will hate vista.

Microsoft has yet to learn that you work in applications, not the OS. Vista really isnt that bad if you turn everything off, otherwise its a royal pita.

I dig the windows. I mostly use windowblinds now though so that's not an issue.
I would turn off UAC though.

There's an option to turn off the second-guessing in Vistas that I would recommend. It's a gigantic pain in the ass to try to install/uninstall something and have Windows try to talk you out of everything.
"Are you sure?" - yes
"No... no, I mean really ! Are you REALLY sure?!" - yes
"Well, let's just think about this for a minute.. can you honestly say you are 100% positive you want to proceed with this installation/uninstallation?" - God Damnit, YES
"We're not joking here... if you proceed with this, it'll be semi-final! Maybe you should give it a day or two and think on it, and decide if you are really certain this is what you want to do."
Fucking annoying.
Also I have some problem with my computer now where I can't print out multiple copies of anything. It gives me some error message about collating, even when collating is turned off.
However, if you turn off all the extra garbage and the safeguards, it's not so terrible, but I still prefer & miss XP.
