Good. Much better to face Washington, instead of Miami

I'd be willing to bet that Dallas would MUCH rather have faced the Clippers than the Warriors. I can only imagine how berserk the Warriors fans are going to be at the games here, now that the team is finally in after 13 years. Obviously the regular season records aren't that important, but it's obvious Dallas has SOME issues with the Warriors. Still, I bet it goes 6 games or less.

Of course, should the warriors WIN, they'll be able to hear the partying from Oakland all the way in Hawaii.

West:

Dallas vs. Golden State
--Dallas in 5 maybe 6

Phoenix vs. Los Angeles Lakers
--Phoenix in 5

San Antonio vs. Denver
--San Antonio in 6

Utah vs. Houston
--Houston in 7 (to be honest I can't predict this series. I predict one of either Utah or Houston will win, guaranteed)

East:

Detroit vs. Orlando
--Detroit in 4

Cleveland vs. Washington
--Cleveland in 4

Toronto vs. New Jersey
--Toronto in 7 (although it would crush me I don't see a NJ win being out of the question)

Miami vs. Chicago
--Chicago in 7

Well, sure... The Clippers have been a total joke lately. But we definitely wanted to play the Warriors more than the Lakers. Which is why I think Zan is a bit off on his predictions. Phoenix / LA will go further than that, if only for the Converse commercials.

Last year, we had a tough time with Memphis in the regular season (always close games, finished 2-2 with them) but, come playoffs... it was a different story. Playoff games are a TOTALLY DIFFERENT BEAST. That's when we 'actually care'. Result? Easy first-round sweep, gives us rest to play against San Antonio for the greatest 7-game series ever.

Same thing this year. We are playing a team that nobody took seriously (although, I'd argue that last year's Grizzlies would beat this year's GSW), and struggled with during the regular season. It's a lot more intriguing this time around because of the Don Nelson factor, but... seriously... this is the same exact boat (same team even) that we had back in 2000. Same coach, same style, same lack of defense...

shrug...

bring it

My predictions...

Dallas vs. Golden State
Dallas in 5

Phoenix vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Phoenix in 7

San Antonio vs. Denver
San Antonio in 6

Utah vs. Houston
Houston in 7 (although, I won't be surprised if they pull it in 6. Utah will not win this one though.)

East:

Detroit vs. Orlando
Detroit in 5 (detroit always chokes at least once in the playoffs)

Cleveland vs. Washington
Cleveland in 4 (sadly... and if Washington steals a game here, it'll be the biggest knock on LBJ)

Toronto vs. New Jersey
Toronto in 7 (too interesting for Stern... Vince back in Toronto for the playoffs...)

Miami vs. Chicago
Chicago in 6

GS VS PHO would have been way more exciting.

Dallas will win, it just depends how much mileage GS puts on them.

Between all of the potential 8 seeds, we really didn't care. I'd say that in order of preference, we'd probably rank it like... Clippers, Warriors, Nuggets, Lakers. Meaning, we'd much rather play the Clippers than Lakers. But seriously, it doesn't matter. The Warriors did the Clippers a favor by sneaking in... They now have an 8% chance of grabbing the 1st pick. Which begs another question...

If the Clippers get the 1 or 2 seed, and Dallas sweeps Golden State, will the Warriors fans be upset or will they remain jubilant at their first playoff berth? Cuz... I'd be fuckin pissed off. Not that the lottery balls would have necessarily dropped the same way with "GSW" printed on them instead of "LAC," but still... Either of those players will completely dominate their new team. Golden State has a few years before Nellie transforms them into a 55-win team (and he will). This was their ONE chance at grabbing that amazing pick, in the deepest lottery in years. They are playoff bound for the next several years. Oops?

I don't think anyone in the media is taking us over the Nets aside from the TNT crew.

People need an upset to spice up their picks and we are the obvious choice.

I honestly think that Toronto is the 2nd best team in the East right now... and in 2 years, Colangelo will bring it into serious contention with Detroit, if he's given money anyway...

And Bosh isn't signing with Dallas by then ;)

That's right as Dirk is peaking agewise, so... perfect time for him to head south.

Funny thing is in an interview once (that got torpedoed by comrade stern) Bosh's mom said something like "You just wait, my boy is comming home and everyone will be surprised" while the raps were playing Dallas last year or the year before.

Things have changed quite a bit since then though.

The NBA champion has been the No. 1 or 2 seed in its conference for the past 11 years.

Aren't the Spurs 3rd?

If not Dallas I could see the Spurs winning again.
