20 questions that cover the majority of political issues? Maybe you don't understand the questions so the number has nothing to do with the result. :dunno:

Maybe the questions are equally weighted on the poll, but not in people's views of what is important.

This is a very simple poll without much depth. I'm sure there are better ones out there.

Who said anything about backing Bush and Cheney? The survey asked very specific questions and paralleled those idealogies aligned with certain politicians. Just because I have similarities with certain politicians doesn't mean I'm backing them up. Bush and Cheney have both done things I don't agree with, and I'm certainly not lauding what either one has done.

Damn them for 9/11, Katrina, Saddam, and all those other things. They clearly would not have occured if the DNC were in power.

Then again, so few people care about facts and honest debate, it wouldn't matter if things were swimming, their opinions would remain static and divided among the R and D demographic, despite their protestations to the opposite.

Lyion, all things asside though you can't say either of the two did a good job. I am not making a comparisson to anyone or prior presidents or anything of the sort but I do not feel that they did "right" by America through the decisions they've made and we've been forced to live with.

I don't have the knowledge you or Arlos and others have for past presidents and such but I do not recall a time in my life (37 years) where a president and his placed officials were so hated by the majority of people. The hate isn't mis placed either, these guys have made bad choices repeatedly, accident or purposefully, doesn't matter, they made BIG mistakes that will takes centuries to overcome if at all.

Your post certainly sounded like you were talking to me and anybody else who had similar viewpoints to Bush and Cheney. Reading comprehension? Bitch, please.

To me it has nothing to do with D and R in this case. Each one of the things you mentioned Lyion were handled in a ridiculous manner regardless of whether D or R were in power. Hell, put me in the President's seat and I would have handled it all better than he did, which isn't saying much. GW is good for 2 things. He makes Leno and Letterman funnier and he does plenty of great photo ops. Nothing against the Republicans, definately something against Bush and Cheney.

Many, many Presidents were not well liked in office. Some of them were downright castigated and history has done quite well by them, once the polemics of the moment are gone and the simple facts are all that are left. Some were loved in office, but were worthless when one looks at their true accomplishments.

Much of what makes a Presidents poll numbers high is their rapport with the media, their personal likeability, the state of the economy, and the reporting of current nationwide adversities, a la war.

The media heaps adulation on JFK. However, he is arguably one of our worst Presidents, between the Bay of pigs, his bad foreign policy, and his escalating the Vietnam conflict.

Likewise, some biased people will call Reagan terrible when he is arguably one of the best Presidents we ever had, from winning the cold war, to kickstarting the economy with policies that are still pushing growth to this day, to bringing back Patriotism which fuels much of what makes us American.

Politics has always been about polemics and about selling. The truths one knows about salesmen are valid here and it's good to look at the simple facts and quit buying into the open hatred many polarized people are selling.

In regards to the Bush Administration, they've done good things and bad things. I do think with the very biased and op-ed style reporting that we've moved to, very few are looking at the true facts, and basing their opinions on editorials versus events and truths. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing in the future.

Regardless of if the next President is Democratic or Republican, if he faces half the adversity of W, he or she will be called the worst President ever and many other worse things by the other side simply for being an R or D. That's where we are in American political life.
