looking for a new game to play and this one seemed interesting...
How is it compared to D2? Even if I pay for it, will it deliver a comparable experience? I freaking loved D2 and I'd love to see something similar, MMO is even cooler.
If anyone has played this game for a while and can give a decent review, let me know. Also, an invite would be cool =).

Well, I'm not sure that I want to play an MMO really...
I've just... totally stopped playing all games lately and I miss it 8(. I even thought about firing WoW back up, but... screw that... I'd like something that's very rich, (oblivion), well made... nice graphics (although not a priority) to run since I have a pretty nice rig... maybe even something my non-gamer fiance would want to play. The only thing she's interested in is a WII... but, as much fun as I have with it, I'm just not much of a console gamer anymore. I was thinking about picking up Diablo for PS1 just so we'd have something 'easy' to do together. But, again... this is more for me than anything.
A good roleplaying game maybe... Maybe I'll download the Oblivion expansion and get back into that.
Actually, I think that's what I'm going to do for now. But, yeah... any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thanks =)

Lineage 2 emulated servers are stable, solid, and full of content/players.
It's a fairly simple game, and there are thousands of servers out there to choose from.
Ragnarok online is a little more complicated because of how vital stats play a role in gameplay. Literally items with +1 to a stat are sought after.
These games have different rates of experience gain, item drop rates, etc. All customizable through the server operator, so you will see the whole gambit from 1X to 1000X experience gain.
I play them off and on for a quick fix of gaming when I'm not out and about.

How do you like this spoiler, motherfucker? -Lyion
The grinding is really prevalent in RO. I don't play on low-rate servers for this reason.
I dick around for an hour or two and enjoy myself. I don't want to spend days killing mobs that bear no experience for an item that has literally a 1 in a million drop rate.

I've played about 20 hours of it.
It's a bit like D2.. Without the mystique, atmosphere, or fun things that made D2 what it was.
I can't not recommend this enough. Especially since it's a big step backwards in every regard from the better games out today.
If this came out 6 years ago it'd be neat. Today, it's a dated graphics mini MMO copied from Diablo that looks like an old Korean game.
1 star.

okay, fuck that...
going to load up Oblivion again =/
Harrison, the whole MMO thing scares me I think. Not that I'd get addicted or anything, but... dealing with idiots is SUCH a turnoff. Like, if Old Sebilis had 50 people and one annoying fuck, any zone in WoW had something like... 50 players and 48 annoying fucks. Even in the 'elite' areas. COMPLETELY ruined MMOs for me. Plus, I hate 'the grind'. I was thinking of picking up Vanguard, but... I heard that it's very much 'the grind'.

Everquest is cool though.
Now Old Sebilis will have 1 player and it will definitely be an annoying fuck.

We need to get an NT group for this

I'm in the same boat as you, Vonk. Interestingly, the dirtbags seem to have centralized in WOW. I played LOTR beta and there were surprisingly few idiots. Granted, the game wasn't fun enough for me to purchase, but the people playing were a tad more mature and better than NT when it started.
If you want to pick up Vanguard, we have a twice weekly group of us that are playing very casually and for fun. The good news is you won't see 100 idiots in Vanguard, because I don't think any server actually has that many people online at any time.

That's one reason I love GuildWars. There's only 20 levels - no major grinding, as I don't have time to dedicate to it (plus, I hate grinding) or raiding, and it's not about the best armor, the best weapons, etc. It puts everyone on a very even playing field.
Lots of content, quests, and the PvP is all about skills, and how you use what you've got.
Plus, it's free to play online once you buy the game, and it's absolutely beautiful just to look at. A++ in my book.

That's one of the prime reasons I inevitably ended up telling WoW to fuck itself once again (3rd time).
I am sick of having to wade through complete and utter morons to find one good player. I had a sizable friends list comprised of good and knowledgeable players, but that's useless at certain times of the day/night.
The drawback to being nice and overall a good priest is I have every fucktard who has ever grouped with me begging me for groups. Sometimes I just give in, hoping they've improved...
I wish there was a server where you had to have a certain level of skill to even APPLY to join it. I think I'd have more fun then.
