Ugh Neighbor drama

So remember the drunken cheating drama queen friend that lives next door?

Her husband is a plumber and works for a man who built our house, thier house, and their neighbors house. So the first house of the three (her neighbors house) is the lowest elevation of all three houses, so they keep trying to build up their yard which makes it even worse and when it rains, it floods their back yard. Now we live 2 blocks from the lake, so all the yards (even ours) gets flooded. But theirs is like a swiming pool. Our house is at the top of the grade. So they dug a trench behind their house and my neighbors house to try to relieve some of the flooding. It didnt work. They bitched and complained to the builder after having structural engineers out here and they agreed to build some kind of trench behind all three houses and down the other side of our house to help the drainage into the streets. This gets the builder out of some hot water and potential law suits from the first neighbor. Well this puts my drunk cheating neighbor in a predicament, because even though she told me that she didnt care to have her yard dug up, she tells the other neighbor the opposite.

So now since my brother is refusing to sign the papers to have a moat (essentially) dug around our house so that someone two houses away can have a pretty yard, my lieing cheating drunken neighbor decided to make it her life's mission to make my brother sign the papers, even though its not her lawn that is flooding.

Now let me give you some background on my brother. He is an asshole. He doesn't do anyone favors, and he is a big "whats in it for me" kind of guy. He does alot for me and my son (he let me use his truck for a year, he babysits for free when I am at work) but there is also alot I have to give in return (clean the house, buy groceries, cook groceries, drive 4 hours on my day off to pick up his daughter from her mother). He is a funny guy, and alot of fun to be around if you are his friend. He essentially hates the cheating drunk neighbor because she cheated on her husband. He was already nice enough to let them borrow the John Deere after she got drunk, wrecked her truck into a fence in the neighborhood, (and never fessed up so this little old 80 year old woman is devastaed that half her fence is gone) and then ran the truck into their John Deere, essentially disabling it. They also, while borrowing it, got it stuck in the aforementioned ditch in their back yard.

So she marches over here and asks Dean why he wont sign. Dean calmly explained that when we moved in the house, the builder refused to let us negotiate a fence or sod for the yard and was very strict on his asking price. We barely negotiated closing costs. So now why would my brother do anything to help the builder stay out of a lawsuit? Well, she tells him it won't hurt anything to have it done, and he tells her again, NO, I am not letting him do it.

She leaves and comes back a little bit later, and pretty much tells my brother that the city owns the land and they can do what they want. He tells her that he owns the land to the posts, which is well past where they want to dig the trench. She says well, no matter what you do, they are going to do it anyway. He tries to ell her that we don't live in the City, we live in the County, and unless it is a utility company who is making the trench they cant legally touch it, because technially, there is an encraichment there. SHe says, well, I know when you are at work, and I will tell them to come do it then. Again, Dean calmy explains that he can have his lawyer at work draw up an injinction if that is what it takes. She starts yelling at him telling him he will pay, and blah blah blah. Now I feel like I should go over and tell her a.) Is non of her business, b.) If her neighbor wants it done so badly, maybe she should come over and explain to Dean what is going on and c.) That threatening my brother is a big mistake. He does, afterall, know she was party to a drunken hit and run, and could have her arrested if he so chose to be evil.

Or I could stay out of it, but she needs a good asswhipping. I dunno.

When we worked together at Home Depot, NOONE liked her, and noone could understand why I put up with her. Same goes for her husband, he is such a great guy, and she is such a bitch. She was always in the middle of any trouble there, and is always in the middle of any trouble here.

We were friends, best friends, but since her and her husband are having so many problems, I kinda backed off to give them some space. One day he is mad at her because he finds out she is talking to another guy, then they make up and decide to work it out, the next day she is upset and he asks her what is wrong and she says nothing, so he figures it is nothing, and she wants to divorce him because he doesnt meet her emotional needs because he didn't hold her until she told him what is wrong, the next day they are fine, then he wants to divorce her because now there is a different guy and a different story, and then it is all fine, then the next day she finds letters from girls from 15 years ago, (before they even met) in the attic in a old army duffel bag, and she wants to leave him again because she didnt know.

Do you see how exhausting it is? I got tired of being in the middle of it all, and I just dont call her or go anywhere with her. Hell, if I didnt have to see her in the morning when I sent my son out to the bus stop, that would make me very happy!!
