I think they are probably aiming quite a bit higher. I would imagine they are not only looking at military but also ways to attack the private sector as well. We are way more vulnerable then the above statement would indicate.

We have and/or are training our own version to my knowledge.

I know the FBI has a sizable force along these lines. (not offensive)

our military is slowly but surely gearing up into remote and robotic units, as well as having ops run from across the globe - imagine hacking into that system

The US military has its own version of this, its been around for quite a bit and is getting bigger every day. The Air Force is standing up the Cyberspace Command at Barksdale AFB. Its geared for both offensive and defensive ops, along with destablization operations with mission partners (NSA, DIA, CIA etc)
