Newest server was a combined Euro server I believe.

Or was it the combined PVP one...

either way you wanna come to Butcherblock ;)

Whats the current level cap, like 75 ? I know there are AA grinds on top of that too so thats kinda scary... Whats the raiding like Mart ? I havent played it since my lvl 35 bruiser, but that was before they did that huge overhaul of the combat system.

Cap is currently 70. It'll go up to 80 when Kunark goes out.

AA is earned at the same time as regular xp. It's not like EQ where you could put a percentage in either.

Raiding the same as anywhere. If you have a good raid leader it goes smooth, if not it's a disaster. There's a 24 person max per raid, if that helps.

Grinding and EQ2 leveling do not go together. It is way the hell too easy to gain XP / level up. Most people turn off combat XP so that they can see more of the game at each level. Can you imagine wanting to turn off any form of XP gain in EQ1?

Thats pretty crazy. I can't imagine turning off XP in a MMO at all, better yet an EQ one lol. It looked like they had some cool idea's with that first expansion, Desert of Ro or something like that. Do people still spend time in old content, or are they all dead zones like 95% of EQ1 ?

I couldn't get through Eq2, I tried twice and stopped at 20 or so both times. It just turned into a shitload of running through Antonica a million times every level for a bunch of repetitive quests. The first time was upon release and the second time was about 3 months ago.

I'm actually considering playing the new area but I don't know if its worth spending my money on since I really tried to enjoy the game the first two times but failed :(

This is my third time through, and I am in the same boat, Dylan. I tried pretty hard to enjoy it the first two times, and failed. I'm not sure if I'm here for the long term, either, but I'm trying again, and have made it to 22 so far.

There are some neat things to add to levelling, and a lot more content.
These two things have really helped me:

It appears with Neriak SOE has finally learned that size doesn't matter, and quality is far above quantity. There are still zones that are disheveled piles of shi'ite, but hopefully they'll continue to revamp things.

I think you would like leveling up a toon in Faydwer much more than the old zones. There is definite progression in the expansion zones. For instance, you start in Greater Faydark in the nursery section, which is a great tutorial zone, until around 7-8 then move on to Greater Faydark proper and work up to taking on fairly tough crushbone orcs in the high teens. By 20 you move on to Butcherblock Mts. and progress through various quests there. Next it's Steamfont mountains for the 40's, Lesser Faydark for the mid 50's and Loping Plains for the 60's.

Of course at any time you can opt to quest in any of the old content to mix it up. For example, you could opt to go to the sinking sands in your mid 40's and progress to working on factions in the city of Maj'Dul around level 50. There are also a few mini expansions to play through such as Splitpaw, Bloodline Chronicle and Fallen Dynasty adventure packs. However, the adventure packs all have a small cost to them.

Bottom line, though, is if you are going to level up a new toon, try the new Faydwer / Kelethin or Darklight Woods / Neriak zones. They crush the old zones for quality and progression.

Having a good time with EQ 2. It is quite a bit different than what it was when it first came out. It is very player friendly, and a ton of fun in the newer zones.

When i first started (2years ago?) i was on butcherblock. Got to 19 and it got boring.

I made a new toon on the Baaz server, he is level 10 atm.

Ill log into my Butcherblock one though, and shoot you a tell.

Play with me :) I quit WoW because I cant raid anymore due to the kids and bedtimes, so I'm doing EQ2 now.
I have a 15 or 16 Assassin and a few a couple levels higher of various classes, all of which kinda blow.
