I would still object. If you live in that kind of an environment, you're either watching everything they do when they are outside or they are in the hands of an afterschool program.

Nono, thats why in the other post I recommended having them read or something. Almost anything is better than watching hours and hours of TV and playing video games, wouldnt you agree?
My GF can't stand the fact that he plays video games so much but she also doesn't play them herself so it doesn't make sense to her. I can't stand the fact that she watches TV like 2 hours a day so it's a wash.
Yeah I love it when my mother asks me when I am going to "grow up and stop playing video games" and I respond, "as soon as you grow up and stop watching M.A.S.H and The Waltons all day".
Some video games can be good I guess for their imagination, but those fucking kids like my brothers friends that sit around and play HALO for 12 hour rounds need help.

I made it to Washington Square on my own many times when I was younger. My family had a system in case we wanted to split up and do things seperately. I never had an incident beyond my father & sister forgetting the time once & I waited an hour at our designated meetup spot (ticketbooth in Times Square).
This was in the early 90s prior to anybody in my family getting a cell phone. I memorized a few contact #s & I had an emergency contact # card that I carried with me.
I think my first solo adventure into NYC was when I was 12. I took the train down from Stamford on summer morning because I wanted to check out the central library.

Yeah I think everyone played oregon trail for two reasons:
1.Steve Jobs' marketing campaign that if they donate apple computers to a million schools, children will grow into adults and be apple customers.
2.Oregon trail was the only game for apple.
I played it on a PC. I also had Police Quest, Castle, Frogger, some tank game that was like the precursor to Worms, & a few other ones that sucked so bad I played them maybe once.
