Me too. This whole thread is pretty damn funny though. It's rushing back memories of a week or so before we banned Mindia the last couple times.

I don't recall Mindia bringing up religion in a long time. Just other people stirring the shit pot.

Hey, to me the guy gets increased stature by smoking pot, not lessened. Plus he obviously picked a low environmental impact car. I just give him stupid points for being CAUGHT with the pot.

I only sling insults at people here when they sling them first. You should know that by now.

Yes that's the top end, and the prius in comparison to other hybrids relies more on engine shut off vs being as light. I wonder how good fuel mileage is on a prius running at 100mph, it could very well be the case that while he was driving a hybrid, his fuel efficiency (and carbon footprint) were similar to a regular vehicle going the speed limit.

My friend just bought one. I like it. I always said they were ugly, and I still think that way. But he can go a month on a tank of gas, it gets something like 50mpg. It looks like the inside of the freakin Enterprise. It's kinda neat.

They advertise it as getting 60mpg on the highway. That's pretty incredible.

They advertise it that way, and it can get it if the situation is perfect. The salesman said that 50+ was a closer, more realistic number. Either way, it's outstanding.
We were standing out by his car ass he was getting ready to leave and we were talking and such. He said he had to go, got in his car and immediately started backing up. I asked wtf your car isnt on? He said it was the whole time, he was just charging his battery before he made the trip home. It was completely silent. It remains that way until you hit like 25 or 30 or something. Then it cuts off the battery and uses the engine.

The Prius is the opposite of most cars, it actually gets better mileage in a city than on the highway. The reason for that is that the more braking you do, the more energy from the regenerative braking that you're putting back into the battery.

Yup. That's why 50 is a more acurate number. He based it on everyday driving. A bit on the highway, a bit on city streets. I want one and I'm pretty sure I can even get over how ugly they are.

Plus, with a Prius you get to drive in the carpool lane even if you're by yourself.

Yeah, you go to DMV with your Prius registration and they give you a little yellow bumper sticker which permits access to the carpool lane.

They said from the beginning that they were only going to give out a limited number of those stickers, and it was first come, first served. At this point, they've run out, and as far as I know, they're not going to be giving any more out.

Irish Bookie Loses on the Wrong Al Gore
Jul 6, 5:57 PM (ET)

DUBLIN, Ireland (AP) - Ireland's top bookmaker, Paddy Power PLC, paid out more than $13,500 on Friday to people who bet that Al Gore would be arrested. Trouble was, the company neglected to specify which one.

The former U.S. vice president and global-warming activist was rated as a 14-to-1 outsider in a list of American celebrities likely to be arrested next. On Wednesday - the day after the betting went live on Paddy Power's Web site - Gore's 24-year-old son, Al Gore III, was arrested and charged with illegally possessing marijuana and prescription drugs.

Paddy Power said it was paying out winnings to about 50 people, because it had failed to identify which Gore it meant. "We got a good stoning," the Dublin-based company said in a statement.

The bet in question listed publicity hound Paris Hilton as the favorite on 2-to-1 odds, based on her recent spell in a Los Angeles jail. Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates came a distant 50 to 1.

On Friday, Paddy Power had switched its celebrity betting back solely onto Hilton's likely 2007 fortunes. She merited a 5-to-4 chance of ending up in a rehabilitation clinic by the end of the year, while a return to jail was rated at 10 to 1. Appearing in an episode of "Prison Break" was 25 to 1, becoming Calvin Klein's new face for the perfume "Escape" 40 to 1, and releasing a cover of Elvis'"Jailhouse Rock" 66 to 1.
