yeah and for the record--

i am widely known to be quick to mock josh's WoWing, but i have to change my tune, step up, and vouch for him here

furthermore, a big fat surprise horsecock in the ass to those who feel it necessary to belittle the honesty of feelings in this thread. may swollen pineapples find sanctuary in your urethras.

kizz- thanks. i'm feeling a little bit better today, but i think it's going to take time. josh is being supersweet and letting me cry whenever i need to (for the record, i get super attached to pets if you couldn't tell hehe)

ezekial- we had two, catfood and luci(fer). luci's kind of a dick, always biting people, which is why we liked catfood better since she was our little angel. we're trying to spend time with luci, though, to let her know we still love her and that we won't abandon her.

Hey, my sister called up from pittsburgh, crying because her Guinnee pig that she had for 7yrs died. She was all broke up....

I'm sorry about that.

personally can't relate but i see how others feel about their rodents.

My sister and I had a pair of rats. I had a white labrat looking one and she had a darker colored one.

Her rat ate mine and as karma would have it, our cat ate her rat. I laughed.

Seriously though, being emotionally detached from your pets doesn't make you super cool or more mature than anyone else. Some people love their pets like family while others don't. Doesn't make them whiners for mourning.

My girlfriend was born in Kentucky and has lived her entire life here in the States. Just because someone bought and paid for you to come here doesn't mean every Asian in the U.S. is imported.

As for being emotionally detached from a pet... it is a pet, plain and simple. People that make a pet part of the family are sad people that can't make real friends. They probably cry to their pet and tell it what a bad day they had. So sad.

Yeah, that's a ridiculous statement. I have plenty of friends, two cats and a dog.

I don't have a dog and never had. I have two cats. I like them, but realize they are lower forms of life and have shorter life spans than mine. When they die I will bring them to my friend who works at the city crematorium and have them torched. I would just toss them in the trash, but that isn't legal in the city where I live.

But then why have them? Just to have them around? Sorry - I'm seriously curious about this.
The animals I've had in my life have been like family to me since I was a baby (not kidding - 6 months old, that puppy and I were inseparable. I grew up with her). I have never not had an emotional attachment to them and have loved them dearly. I don't fall into the category of "can't make real friends" - I have tons of human friends, as do most pet owners I would wager.
Why have pets at all if there is no love attached to them?

Emotionally crippled is a more accurate statement.

And Triel, that's an excellent question. Short of, say, a Farmer owning cats in order to keep the rodent population down, what IS the point of having pets unless there's an emotional attachment involved? That's why I personally would never have a bird, fish, or most rodents as pets: I don't like them, and would be unlikely to form an emotional bond, and thus they aren't viable pets for me. A cat, dog, etc. however, definitely...

And don't be fooled. He likes them enough to populate three of his gallery pics with them. He's just e-cool because he realizes cats are "lower forms of life".

Haha what a ridiculous statement.
